…..pretty sure I had it, starting about 10 days ago, just emerging into the world the last few days.
Anyone else ? I had a hacking cough and expectorating phlegm - something I've never had before.
NHS under real pressure.

The flu currently working its way through my household and yes, the worst part was the cough and the build up of phlegm. Continually felt like I was going to vomit because of the phlegm.

Getting over it now - last week was the worst of it for me.

Two colleagues of mine had it really bad.

One ended up with flu (the really nasty K strain), a bad chest infection and sinusitis. Now on antibiotics and some other hard core meds.

Mates birthday and he’s so ill with it he’s cancelled our trip on Monday to Plumpton races.

We’d bought our Christmas jumpers and everything, bloody annoying.

Prevention is the best way to avoid an infection.

Keep your immune system strong, take a vitamin D tablet every day between October and April. Vitamin D is actually more important than C when it comes to immunity.
Vary your diet with as much fruit and veg as you can. Make sure you are well rested.

I work for TfL so shifts all over the place, people coughing and sneezing everywhere, I need all the help I can get!

I notice a lot of people are now back on wearing face masks which is fair enough. If I had a cold I would probably put one on to help stop spreading it around to others.

Knowing a spike was coming, I added a pneumonia jab to my yearly flu and since 2020, C19 jabs.

Vaccines are not always 100% successful, but history suggests many diseases are held at significantly at bay by maximum vaccination.

Also, while solid advice on vits C, D and a diet centered on a wide variety of plant based food, these should be consumed not as a quick fix but rather, a diet that is your norm.

Yeah, I have it. Probably been holding it off for a week but been floored for 3 days. Very similar to Covid tbh. Everything smells and tastes like gloss paint. You have my sympathy. My own fault for not getting the flu jab.

Been off work all week. No signs yet of improvement. Promised my boss I'd be back on monday. Not looking so good, but I'm going crazy here at home.
Much worse than when I had Covid.

The flu jab might well not have helped - my colleague had one but it apparently doesn't stop the "k strain" or whatever it's caused doing its thing. Be careful out there folks.

Don't underestimate the effects. Post WW1, there was a flu pandemic that killed millions. If eligible, get the vaccine. We had ours early November. + Covid booster.

Lads. After hearing and reading first hand experiences from this community and your inner circles, and you haven't yet experienced this season's flu, why would you want to expose yourself to it?

Get the jab....

Advice is that it does work against the current predominant strain. But it's not 100% effective.

True.. I've had the jab but still got a right old nightmare for about 8-10 days. It could have been a really severe cold but I've been lucky in the past in that I never seemed to get more than a light chill.
It looks like a rough few months ahead.
