As is sometimes the case with Donny, there is a kernel of sense inside the insanity. You do have to wonder why people who spend much of their free time shitting on the US via social media would also quite happily visit the place, and US Immigration may feel entitled in telling them to piss off at the door. Problem is no doubt they will also target people who have been critical of Trump personally rather than the US in general. |

Europe has spent most of the last 30+ years drawing down their own defensive capabilities and depending upon the US to take up the slack, whilst simultaneously acting all snooty and superior about the place. This has been a long time coming and it's not America's fault. |

It used to be said that the hallmark of a good player is that they always seem to have time and space. Murphy is a good player. It also has to be said that despite being their primary attacking outlet, he didn't actually create all that many openings. |

I'm thoroughly enjoying how often you wait for someone else to say something negative so you can join in. |

I think it's worth considering using Franco and Yalcouye almost in a job share arrangement. One starts, and the other comes on around the 60 minute mark. Both are terriers and can run themselves into the ground knowing that we have an alternative on the bench. |

In his post match comments Matos talks about being better with the ball, which ultimately will benefit Vipi. We've seen this season (and last) how capable he is of scoring a goal out of nothing with very little service. Giving him a target rich environment might even offer him the chance of a 20 goal season. |

I was more critical of him than most after Saturday but last night was much better. Markedly more decisive in possession and less prone to dallying. The blood and thunder stuff is all well and good and will get people all excited, but if he's going to be in that role, setting the tempo of our play, then he needs to show more than just that he's up for a tackle. Last night he did. |

I can think of a few players I'm "thankful" to have. He's not one of them. Sorry, but model professional or otherwise, he's nowhere near good enough for a team with ambitions of exiting the division in an upward direction. Just like Oli Cooper. Overall when he came on he struggled to impose himself, like he usually does. Not good enough as a striker, not good enough as a midfielder. The occasional goal like last night doesn't and won't change that. |

So basically, we turned a senior member of a murderous terrorist organisation into a double agent, but in order for him to keep being a double agent (and providing valuable information/saving lives in the process) he had to carry on doing the sort of things that senior members of murderous terrorist organisations do? I mean, nobody comes out of this smelling of roses, but if that's about the crux of it then what's the problem? |

Probably more pleased with that than I was with the Oxford game as a result of the obvious effort, workrate and basic tenacity on show to close the win out. Streets ahead of where we've been in recent games which reflects credit on players and coach. Not what you'd call free flowing and we did still have the annoying habit of stopping the ball dead when we didn't need to, but against a Pompey side whose one tactic appeared to be "Get it to Josh Murphy ASAP" it was enough. Pleasing cameos from Inoussa and Yalcouye, with probably the most Cullenish performance Cullen has ever pulled off. Came on, did little but fall over and give the ball away for 20 minutes, scores a cracker, then reverts to the former for the final ten. |

The only one I'd say hasn't worked at all has been Benson. There's not even been flashes of quality from him. All of the rest you can point to moments, OK, perhaps not many, that there's something there. I think if we'd gone into this season trying to play like we did last season instead of abandoning it for reasons known only to Sheehan and O'Dea we'd be doing better than we are. There's definitely something for Matos to work with IMO. |
