Trump rubbishes Chagos deal
at 18:58 5 Feb 2026

Trump loves the Chagos deal again.

It was ‘an act of great stupidity’ a fortnight ago. Today it’s the best deal he (Starmer) could make.

I assume it’ll be awful again in a week or so.

I’m not sure if you want to reform to succeed in immigration, you’d want them to take on two failed tory immigration ministers.

I’m doing the polar opposite.

I want these insects and everyone correctly associated with them brought to justice with the full force of the law.

I’m desperate from them not to get off because their prosecution has been jeopardised by a powerless ‘court’ of public opinion.

Anyone who wants justice would want the same.

Anything else is letting heart rule head. Understandable but wrong nevertheless the less.

This is why it doesn’t appear in any accountable media (including GB news where it’s been suggested that Farage is protecting the worst scum on earth because he’s fallen out with Lowe).

Bizarre.

Of course, we did have a barrister on here who I think was either bored off by being constantly told he was wrong about the law or just plain fed up of his profession being slagged off.

Shame as he could have added a lot to this discussion.

The disconnect between the Labour party members and the govenment is stark.

I don't know if that's the same for the Tories or if their version has just upped sticks to Reform.

I assume because they'd be liable for effecting any future prosecutions.

If I though this enquiry would be effective I'd be all for it. I think it's a publicity stunt at best and at worst pretty dangerous to any proper justice.

They’ve covered it as a subject a lot, just not this enquiry (if it can really be called that).

Why do you think GB news aren’t touching it?

Possibly because it’s a 10 day affair with no power to compel anyone to appear, cannot hear evidence under oath and is highly unlikely to hear from anyone implicated.

If anything, it's likely to prejudice any future prosecutions which I assume the reason it’s being left alone by anyone with accountability.

I never thought I’d say this but I’ve lost all interest.

I’m probably an outlier on a football board but up until now I’d have rather Wales won the World Cup than the Swans win the Prem.

Now I think I’ll leave Welsh rugby until there’s significant change at the top.

We really need to see this pushed through to the end and Mandelson to be accountable.

The whole thing stinks.

My comment was more aimed the the list that followed and the clamour (from some quarters) for a boycott.

We've just had World Cup in Russia and Qatar.

Singling the US out for political reasons against this backdrop doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't think many on here have presented him in this way. Most seem to think his actions were at best ill advised but he didn't deserve to be killed.

I think most moderate people wouild say that the ICE response in the first incident was totally proprtionate.

The second one was not.

The open carrying of the gun seems to have caused a bit of a fracture over there with the NRA not very happy with politicians saying if you carry a gun to a protest you’re less safe.

Why has Starmer cancelled elections and blocked Burham

I think its 29.

As I said, I'm not comfortable with it but just from local knowledge, I understand why it's happening my way.

I don’t think Lowe will ever return to Reform.

He’d have to start his own party, demonstrably further to the right than them.
