They said the same about Jimmy Thelin. I’m just not into this kind of appointment for where we’re at. Mid season, we need someone with more experience of the division because there’s no pre season. |

David Wagner. He fits the criteria I’m after. He is experienced, has managed in the premier league, has won promotion from the championship. His cv looks a little questionable since his excellent work with Huddersfield but there is context. Schalke were a basket case at the time he went there, and he got Norwich to the play off final but was sacked. He is not working at the moment so no compo either, his sides play good football. Get Joe Allen as assistant to bring a bit of feel good and away we go. |

David Wagner, fits the bill perfectly. |

I know I’ve basically described Colin, but I’m going to add a few caveats. One of which is it can’t be Colin. |

Carrick has done nothing to deserve be in the mix if Sheehan goes. How he’s an upgrade on Sheehan is a mystery to me. Another relatively inexperienced manager with no notable success. Someone with a profile and body of work like Paul Heckingbottom or Alex Neil is what we need. Experienced, managed in the PL is a bonus. Knowing the championship inside out as a manager is an essential requirement. Anything else is just repeating failed mistakes. It’s a route we haven’t really been down, appointing an experienced championship manager. |

It’s an imbalanced squad, heavy on wide players and lacking players who differentiate from each other. Means plan B is plan A with different players but the same profile. That said, he should be getting more of a tune out of them. |

Prefers a move to England (geography’s not his strong point) |

That’s the point. You won’t have heard about it, but soon you will hear more. |

I'm sorry but Jeremy Miles comes out of this with no credit. I hope his race is run after failing against Gething. He has put party before country by not resigning sooner and his snidey comments about Mike Hedges in those leaked texts are not becoming of a leader. |

What is it, 10 new players in. Some non league. Head coach with no managerial experience. Wants to play possession based football in league 2. It's going to be an eventful season at Rodney Parade. I'll be keeping an eye on their results but I'd be surprised if it's anything other than flirting with relegation. Long term I expect Jenkins to do well for them though. |

Wonder if James Graham was one of the trialists? Daily record states he's in Wales. |

Terrible use of subs. Left himself with nothing for the last 25 mins. Wait a bit longer to take Cullen off and do a double or treble and leave one for the last few. Kill the game a bit, reinforce things. Amateur hour. |

Being a certain age myself, I think anyone over the age of 30 can agree the bar for most things has got lower. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Things that were acceptable even 20 years ago are definitely not now. I was late seeing the footage, I’d seen the furore but hadn’t watched it. Having watched it a few times I still can’t quite believe the fuss. I was expecting to see something completely different. I think it’s important to also acknowledge an important fact. The Spanish womens team are at loggerheads with the federation and have been for some time. Whatever anyones view on the incident, it must be remembered that there’s an axe to grind, a touchpaper to light. In that moment I saw an idiotic man, a drunk uncle at a wedding type but I don’t see a sexual predator or someone deliberately demeaning women. I think he genuinely seems happy and proud of what they achieved. Would I behave like him? No. Do I think it was appropriate? Not really, but it’s not a career ender either, in my view. So why the widespread condemnation of him then? All those people can’t be wrong, surely? Well it’s very trendy these days to pile on. To find a fuse to light the touchpaper. Yes many women are treated misogynistically, they are victims of sexism and all sorts of truly awful behaviour perpetrated by males. It sometimes needs a high profile situation to act as the catalyst and this is where certain types of people jump on a bandwagon or use that situation to push the narrative. Don’t get me wrong, the proper treatment of women and equality is a very important topic, one I feel strongly about being a husband, father, brother and uncle. I just don’t think this particular series of events reflects that narrative. It’s high profile though and coupled with the ill feeling from the Spanish players and you have the perfect storm we’ve witnessed. |
