I havent seen the Charlatans live, but I have sat in a pub in Liverpool in December 2021,with two members of the band, a member of The Farm and Nasher out of Frankie Goes to Hollywood watching Liverpool play in the Champions League. All friendly fellas who didn't mention music once. Turned out the Charlatans were recording in Liverpool |

1. I thought we were superb first half and complacent the second, but as I said in the preview, the main thing was to get 3 points and we did. 2. We made the wrong substitutions and too early 3. It was nice to see Iain Dowie at the game, funny how having no hair makes you look a lot different, certainly in his case. 4. Hopefully we will learn from this game, if we do then we will keep winning. 5. Gavin Bazunu deserves credit for his form in recent games, he kept us in this one in the second half, he is benefitting from Tonda Eckert and the confidence in the team |

Where did i say it was the fans fault ? Pat from Poole summed it up perfectly "Most around me spent the majority of the game on their phones. "I gave up in the second-half. Don’t see why I should lose my voice when everybody else just sings when we score and not at any other time. Apart from that Scouse shite. "The team deserve a whole lot better." The atmosphere in the ground was dreadful, I actually made the point that both the fans & the players were complacent, they sat back and thought the game was won. I also made the point that in the dying minutes those that were still in the ground raised the roof and stirred up the players, I also said that the main thing was we got three points. Everyone who was at the game has said that the atmosphere was dreadful, should we just ignore that and pretend it wasn't happening. I am really not sure what your problem is here

 | Forum Reply | Who Should Be Saints Captain at 11:01 9 Dec 2025
I agree with both your points, but I do think a Captain needs to be either centre of midfield or centre of defence |

We have a big enough squad to rest a few players in the early rounds of the cup, so we can have a good run without it damaging a promotion push |

The age demographic was about late 50's upwards, a few of them did pogo around a bit, but not many lol |

If we can keep winning and I see no reason why not, then we will be good for the play offs, we are only 4 points off the 4th spot we got two years ago. 9 points to catch up with Middlesbrough, but I don't think they have the legs to go all the way, Coventry are 9 points clear of 3rd place and 17 clear of us, they have to blow up spectacularly to miss out automatically |
 | Forum Reply | How Tonda Eckert Has Changed Saints Fans Opinion On Recruitment Policy at 12:21 8 Dec 2025
Sunderland bought in about a dozen players the lowest was a free transfer and the highest £30 million, but most were in the £10 -£20 million bracket. The key is identifying the right players either young and reasonably priced or older and experienced |
 | Forum Reply | How Tonda Eckert Has Changed Saints Fans Opinion On Recruitment Policy at 12:09 8 Dec 2025
We would have some money, as we will likely sell Ramsdale and a few others plus we only spent about £50 million in the summer, but brought in about £110 million Get in 5 promising players at £15 million apiece and it would be job done if we get recruitment right |
 | Forum Reply | How Tonda Eckert Has Changed Saints Fans Opinion On Recruitment Policy at 11:38 8 Dec 2025
It wasn't the money spent or the number of players that was the issue last time, it was the type of player bought and the fact that Russell Martin refused to play most of them. If you want to stay in the Premier League you have to have big strong athletes and the only one we had in the squad that met that criteria was Lesley Ugochukwu, who barely played till December If we go up we need to bring in some heavyweights to match the likes of Palace, Fulham, Forest, Bournemouth and the rest |
 | Forum Reply | West Brom Ticket Sales at 11:33 8 Dec 2025
You are right midweek games don't attract the crowds and TV doesn't help, but that doesn't make it right, perhaps im just getting old it wasn't that long ago that a few good wins would see crowds increase |
 | Forum Thread | West Brom Ticket Sales at 11:17 8 Dec 2025
Approximately 3,600 tickets still available in the home sections, so given that West Brom will be lucky to bring 1,000 that means that as it stands we are looking at about 26,000 for this game in total. Very similar for the 25,921 for the Leicester game, a shame really that a few more people haven't bought tickets after us winning 5 out of 6 games. £30 for adults and £25 for those between 18-25 isn't a bad price |

Not only another Saints win, but I went to two gigs, The first on Friday night at Shepherds Bush Empire I saw one of Liverpool's finest bands Shack, a very good performance although I did think they missed out playing a few of their best songs. On Saturday I went to the 1865 in Southampton to see Sham 69, i had mixed thoughts of it, on one hand the songs they played were great and all the top ones were present, but they only played for 45 minutes which I though was a bit short for a so called man of the people Jimmy Pursey. On that note Pursey himself who put Sham 69 up as the peoples band in 1977/78 and not punk rock posers, was dressed in head to toe in designer punk gear which I take was quite expensive. |

Some top oldies there, I saw the Dead Kennedys at Southampton UNi 1982 & then a year later in 1983 I saw Killing Joke at the same venue, both are in my top ever gigs. |
 | Forum Thread | 5 Things About The Birmingham Game at 10:26 8 Dec 2025
1. I went in the Northern fanzone where Bruce Grobellaar was the guest interviewee, I didn't mind him when he was at Saints as a goalkeeper, I met him once in the toilets of a bar by Anfield, he was arrogant, he loved the Liverpool fans coming up to him, when I told him I was a Saints fan he was quite cold and dismissive, on Saturday he told the Saints fans what they wanted to hear, I suspect many didn't really know the controversy surrounding his time at the Dell, as someone said to me about his words "He told us what we wanted to hear", he remains an arrogant tw*t who admitted that this was his first ever visit to St Mary's but failed to mention how much he was paid to attend. 2. A decent crowd, more than attended two years ago in their last visit, I hope that there will be a few more in the home sections tomorrow as I don't think West Brom will bring many down. 3. Tonda Eckert has made a great start to his tenure as Saints manager, surely this must be the best ever start by any Saints manager, he endeared himself even more by kicking the ball away at the end. 4. All the focus is on how much Azaz & Fellows etc have improved under Tonda, but spare a thought for Gavin Bazunu, he is getting better with each game and you can see his confidence returning, Eckert could yet make him the keeper he has the potential to be. 5. I like the way that Eckert manages games, he get the team in a winning position and then makes sure that we don't lose it, we rode our luck a couple of times, but every team has to do that during games. |
