Skates away ticket details announced
at 21:08 11 Dec 2025

I am just trying to work out who is getting these "reserved" tickets and if it's fair. It looks like 400 to 500 tickets kept back. If all these people are loyal fans who have been to many away games this season fair enough. But I don't suspect that is the case. There was an empty block at Charlton, and they said it was sold out. I knew people who wanted to go, but couldn't because it was sold out, yet there was an empty block. The Pompey game is a huge game that so many people are desperate to go to, and they have reserved about 400 to 500 seats, but for who? Why should loyal fans have to wait until their particular number of away games, whilst 500 fans get tickets automatically, if that's the case. The Echo have told me they will try to contact the club for transparency.

So 47 tickets for any London Saints members, who have been to 17 away games today, or just any London Saints members?

But why are they getting tickets ahead of fans who have been to more away games? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they have held back about 200 tickets so that all the London Saints members can go to the Pompey game, even if some of them have only attended one away game? So they are jumping the queue ahead of people who have been to 10? Are London Saints or Northern Saints being given tickets regardless of their loyalty?

But do all these people meet the requirements of having been to 17 away games? Why should anyone jump the queue ahead of loyal fans?

I have contacted the Daily Echo and the club because why should 400 fans get tickets automatically? These could be people who have only been to one away game or none at all, because they fancy enjoying the atmosphere. Surely they should meet the loyalty requirement? Why should club staff get to go if they don't otherwise go to games, so loyal fans miss out?

Totally wrong.

Southampton V West Bromwich Albion The Verdict
at 11:31 11 Dec 2025

I am a season ticket holder and have been for over 30 years, so I go to every game. Moving the away fans hasn't made the atmosphere better at all. The away support are right next to sparse fans who just sit there in silence.

People near me the other end, are walking around the stadium at half time, to get near the away support, in the empty blocks next to the away support which are 75 per cent empty. The "banter" is what some fans want. Nothing wrong with that.

Why did Nick and others question the atmosphere? "I think some of it was complacency, in the second half the ground was like a morgue". The atmosphere was questioned because it was poor. Why is it poor if there is a whole end of Saints fans and we are winning 3 nil? When the Northam was half and half, the "banter" between the two sets of fans right next to each other, kept things going.

I went to that game at Leeds, and it was very early! But I took a flask of coffee, sandwiches, some other refeshments, watched some films on Netflix on my phone sat comfortably on the coach

But to say I can't bring my coffee, some other refreshments or a sandwich for a day from 7am to about 5pm is wrong I think. They can still have a no alcohol policy. Have the bubble, that's understandable but we will all be driven under police escort straight to the ground, I don't see why it has to be such an early start for an away game 12 miles away and can't eat or drink, when we are forced to be on a coach for two hours plus. We have been given the option to spend a load of money at St Mary's for a coffee and some breakfast before the coaches leave. And then spend a load of.money.on drinks at Fratton Park. How kind of them!! £20 for the coach £35 for the ticket and then spend a whole.load more on food and drink as I won't be allowed to bring my own. It's very convenient for them and a bit naughty I think.

I understand the bubble, but seriously this is overkill. No food or drink on the coach!!! So I vant sit there with a coffee? On the coach one hour before departure. So some of us need to be at St Mary's by 7am. For some who don't live in Southampton, they will be leaving home at about 5am. No trains that early on a Sunday. It's well.over the top.

When the team is playing so well, I agree entirely. A few season ticket holders near me didn't even bother to turn up. A bit of rain and they don't turn up. Honestly, put a. coat on.

West Brom Game Matchday Thread
at 15:11 10 Dec 2025

I think possibly the game just became so easy, we were 3 nil up, the ground went silent and the players just got a bit complacent and sloppy. They then get one back, and West Brom upped their game, making it a lot closer than we all expected. We stopped marking up properly, we stopped jumping in front of shots, and with West Brom fighting harder than the first half, it just got a bit messy. It's also arguable that not having Sciensa on the pitch is an issue.

Southampton V West Bromwich Albion The Verdict
at 14:30 10 Dec 2025

You're right, Tonda whipped up the crowd, asking them to find their voice in the last couple of minutes to get the team over the line but he shouldn't have to should he?

A few thoughts - I fully understand the negativity when it's justified. I was accused of being negative by one or two, but it was true and I was right that Will Still was useless and the football was sh!t. I was one of those who did my bit to get Still out for rewards we are having now. I knew we had to get him out to get better times. I fully understand lower crowds and silence when that is the case. The club needs to know when the fans are understandably p!ssed off.

However, when the football is good (it is, it's exciting attacking football with lots of goals) and we have won 4 home games in a row and on the verge of the playoffs, the fans should be giving more. I was there last night and would never miss a game (even if it means putting on a coat!!!) I was singing and fully behind the players last night because they were giving me a great performance back. Was there 26000 against Spurs last season when we lost 5 nil? No, it was full. How come it's sold out for an evening PL game? Are some fans really scared of a bit of drizzle or only acceot drizzle when we are playing a PL.side? The tickets last night were cheap as a category C game. Get yourself there and help get this team back to the PL. It does annoy me a bit that all the fans will be there for the final day won't they, and they were all there against the big clubs in the premier league. Can't get there because it's a winters night and dont have Son to take a picture of?

As for the atmosphere, when there are empty seats everywhere, it makes it harder to get things going. But again, why did people leave on he 86th minute when the game was in the balance? As always, I stayed to the end. When the team is playing so well, yes it does annoy me. And at times, it was like a morgue. Why? Can't be bothered to sing? Too tired? Don't care? As I said, I am one of the fans moaning and booing when it's deserved. But at the moment, the games are exciting, we are winning, they are giving their all, so roar them on back to the PL. So I am a bit peeved that so many couldn't be bothered to turn up last night, left with ten minutes to go, and needed our manager to whip them up as they sit there in silence.

Just another point on this, moving the away fans has been a disaster. The singers are bored not having any away fans to take the p!ss out of. No banter, no aggro, so many just sit there looking at their phones.

What do we reckon it will go down to? It starts on 17 aways. I have always been able to get tickets for games where we get 2000 or more, with 10 aways.

7am start is a bit extreme isn't it. This is so that we all buy coffee and breakfast I assume. 💷

And good luck with getting the front rows to sit down, especially if we are in the lead 😂

How Tonda Eckert Has Changed Saints Fans Opinion On Recruitment Policy
at 13:18 8 Dec 2025

Exactly. We would need to add a bit of PL quality. You need one, perhaps two quality match winners. Le Tissier is the clear example I think. We had very average squads back then, but his quality won games single handedly. We need a bit of that, in amongst the average/ good players. No point buying 10 average players. Just buy 3 quality players, real quality, players who win us games just like Matt did.

Nick, I actually think wth this team, Sciensa, Azaz, Fellows, we don't need to do that much. I wouldn't want to see 8 average players come in. Imagine we buy a 40.million pounds proven PL striker, put him up there with Sciensa Fellows and Azaz behind him, I think.that would be enough. Add a really experienced central defender like Finte or Van D!ck and we would be ok. Just add about 3 or 4 really good top quality premier league players. In the RM PL season, had we bought a top quality centre back and a really good striker, just two signings we would have been ok.

I agree, we are doing so well at the moment. If we were playing one of the top 6 Premier league sides, there would be 30 000 plus in the ground. I fully understand fans voting with their feet and not going when we are playing like idiots. When we are on the verge of the play offs with 5 wins in 6, it annoys me when people don't turn up. We seem to.have a few thousand fans who only go to the big games.

5 Things About The Birmingham Game
at 11:18 8 Dec 2025

Loved the Eckert kick in to the crowd. Also loved it when Sciensa waved to the crowd when laying down for the wall. We want some character!!! That is what has been missing. Eckert has character, we were all singing his name at the end of the game. He is a clever guy, who knows his fanbase and what we want.

How Tonda Eckert Has Changed Saints Fans Opinion On Recruitment Policy
at 11:03 8 Dec 2025

Good article. I have had sympathy with certain managers in the past. I'm talking about the last season in the PL, when I don't think we had the required quality to succeed in the premier league. And even in Ralph's final season, we didn't have a striker. We did need more quality then, most of the signings were not good enough for the top level, and because of that record, it was easy to think here we go again, more poor recruitment.

But that wasn't the case this season. Fellows and Azaz in particular were excellent in the same league just last season - great signings. Why were they playing so badly suddenly? It was obvious to me that the manager was at fault. Still rarely played them, yet they are proven, successful championship players! I was angry again at SR for getting the manager appointment wrong again, and I seemed to know this from day one. He just didn't seem confident, he seemed nervous and his monotone, never get angry, always calm, don't care attitude was grating on me. To add to that, to name just a few, Stephens, Armstrong, Flynn Downes, Harwood-Bellis are all good championship players. They all suddenly looked really bad against sides with vastly inferior players. It wasn't right. I was surprised by the number of people who thought Still would be good, clearly brainwashed by the reports of him being highly rated. Even when players were clearly unhappy, there would then be some fans blaming players. His first interview put me off from day one - boring, monotone, aloof, no relationship with the players.

The whole team looked so miserable, unmotivated, flat and in disarray. Even after the 96th winner against Wrexham, it was very unconvincing. You and I Nick could see it in the friendly game at St Mary's against Brighton. The players were literally walking around the pitch. The other friendly games were also highly unconvincing. Then the Pompey disaster, just to think we would have done them at home had Eckert been here instead. Will Still was a terrible manager, he wasn't focused, the team was all over the place, no style of play. Will Still looked nervous from day one to me, he didn't seem determined, he just seemed lost. It was clearly captain Jack who went to the owners to complain about Still and the whole squad clearly agreed. You could see from the body language of the players, that they were very unhappy. It was clear as day to me that they didn't like him.

So to be fair, apart from Downes, the recruitment has been good, particularly Sciensa who is such a brilliant player and possibly the best player we have had since Tadic. Jander I like too. Azaz and Fellows I expected to be good anyway.

I have also been surprised about just how good Eckert is, he hasn't just turned around results, he has got these players looking like world beaters almost over night. We attack with force and determination. Full credit to him. I really like him, he is a breath of fresh air in comparison to Still. Let's hope it continues, because if it does, we will be in with a good chance of returning to where this club belongs.
