Well,.. Tom Jones and The Cardigans did . Roughly around a quarter of a century ago. The original is classic Talking Heads, good tune… |

They too was far ahead of its time. Weren’t they brothers, with the one on the keyboards looking like Hitler. About 20 years ago I went to a rave (as you did then) and they played that 00 style. It was epic…. |

I remember dancing to Tiger Feet as a nipper, still like the song 😬 I also remember in the late 70s , 10 years after its release MC5 and “ kick out the jams, muther fukka”. They were so ahead of their time.” Looking at you “ was also a song which could of been released 10 years later.. |

Showing my age now. As I wrote on a previous post about songs which summed up your teenage years. I thought what and when did you buy your first vinyl ?? As I’ve said for me was New Rose by The Damned and either Give ‘Em Enough Rope by The Clash or Requiem by Killing Joke were my first albums. I think it was around 1980 as a 14 year old i started buying records. I would also say early Cure get a mention too. |

We won, who cares. Let’s face it being a Leicester fan has to be a bummer. Around 10 years ago they won the premiership and qualified for the Champions League. Now they’re losing at home to basically a 3rd division team….. |

Really….. Paul Weller was an icon with The Jam . He branched out and did a French inspired album with The Style Council. That was it. As a solo artist he’s done (in my opinion) better music than he ever did with The Jam. I don’t think he split from The Jam to be French, he did it to come further in his career. Otherwise he’d be banging out “In the city “ or “Eton Rifles” to this day….. |

That’s the spirit Butty. I agree a win for us today. Dumping 2 strikers we can only hope that they have a goal machine waiting to play for us…… Stewart to score today 🙈 |

Yes just seen that. 2 months before the Pistols released anything. I just remember the band saying they released the first punk single, which they obviously did. Think they’re still going today. |

That’s true. I would say late 70s early 80s was a game changer for me music wise. I was about 13/14 years old when I first started buying records. My first record I bought was The Damned, New Rose. I think (if my memory serves me right) it was released at the end of 75. Before any one had heard of the Sex Pistols. I think as a teenager then it was a pivotal era in music history. Agree about Tubeway Army, I would also say early Kraftwerk. If you listen to Autobahn it sums up going from the 70s to 80s. I remember watching the video, done in b/w and very bleak. They set the trend for future New Romantics, most would admit they were influenced by Kraftwerk. [Post edited 31 Jan 7:31]

You’ve mentioned many bands that I saw live. The point of the post was the tunes which made a difference in your life. I can also say The Damned , Stiff Little Fingers and of course The Clash made a big impact for me. I saw The Stranglers in Copenhagen a few years ago. Think that’s probably the 5th time I’ve seen them They were all fantastic, but for me those three songs I’ve mentioned sum up my early teenage years. |

For me, I’m 60 this year. My top three which bring back memories. For good and bad reasons are of course from the early eighties . They are , The Jam ( Down in the tube station at midnight), The Specials ( Ghost town) and Joy Division ( shadowplay). Listening to it now its all quite depressing. I guess though being a teenager in the early eighties it was like that. That’s why I think (for me) these songs sum it up then. If you’re roughly my age, what were you listening too |

It would be suicidal to sell Arma now. In the summer then yes. Get rid of Archer, Aribo and Edozie for now. Then get a good striker from League One. Best way forward me thinks….. |

Scienza has to be the highlight of this season. I agree, to get 4 points from our last 2 games is a sign that they’re at least fighting for the club. A mid table finish this year would be survivable. Then hopefully we can sort it out in the summer. I know that probably won’t happen but we as fans we can only hope. |

Absolutely.. We have a team with no leadership or experience to go forward with. Like I’ve said previously, we need a leader who knows football. Unfortunately I can’t see SR making such a wise move. [Post edited 18 Jan 13:22]

I agree. Get rid of Laurel and Hardy in defence. Manning and Downes should be playing non league football. FCK we need a complete overhaul of the dross we have |
 | Forum Reply | Why I think we shouldn’t sack Tonda at 10:30 18 Jan 2026
I agree. We’re gone from one disaster to the next. I would say get rid now, Lallana can take charge of the next two games. What we need is someone like Solskær or Gerrard. Both have pretty much failed miserably in their managerial career. Starting again with a basket case of a club just might work. Like Lampard at Coventry. We need a manager who actually knows the game. |

What a great team we have. There is some real fighters in there. I fully expect us to win by at least a two goal margin. Come on you Saints…. |
 | Forum Reply | Who Is The Worst Signing Saints Have Ever Made at 19:13 16 Jan 2026
I think the title should be . Who is the worst signing we’ve ever made and spent the most money on. There’s a few contenders for that.. One is from Italy and another from Argentina , I’m sure there is more…. |
 | Forum Reply | Who Is Your Favourite Ever Southampton Keeper at 18:48 16 Jan 2026
You two are depressing to read. The title says favourite “ever”goalie. I agree that Forster shouldn’t be on that list. Then you might as well add Gennoe or the Kat… You can’t go on about how good a keeper is from results. It’s how good they are at their job, Ramsdale proved last season you can be a good keeper in a shit team |
