I genuinely never leave however crap we are playing but I'm the kind of person who will go to Wimbledon for a day and not leave my seat to go to the bar while the tennis is on. Let's face it, loads of the slop we have served up at home over the last few seasons is worth it when you get a moment like last night...and I would have been gutted to hear the roar behind me if I was making my way home after their equaliser. |

My brother says football fans are fickle... I certainly wasn't overly impressed by him standing watching the Norwich game but two home wins later and sitting in a play-off spot, Monsieur Stephan suddenly looks like a far better manager. My main issue with him has been wondering how much is he his own man, which wasn't helped by the Plymouth debacle but we're certainly a much more exciting watch this season (usually) and I agree that it's good how demonstrative he is on the touchline. |

Would be all over this if we went for it with a full team playing but after the Plymouth debacle, God knows who will be turning out for us. |

The funniest thing is seeing compilations of their online 'content providers' when they don't win a game. It's like a Victorian freak show. |

Yes, he did. Played his part in the second and third goals. It's incredible to have two decent strikers after so long without even one. I know people have been slagging him a bit recently as he hasn't scored for a while but I thought his effort was fantastic today - yes, Burrell deservedly gets the credit but Kone got him those goals. |

What a cross. Really pleased at his redemption. |

West Brom will be practising their corners to hit the six-yard box then. |

There's a heavily subsidised bar in the House of Commons. |

We need a decent goalkeeper too. As for Frey, we had Kone on the bench and Kolli walking round B&Q on Saturday. If the coach (or Nourry) think Frey is a better option than them, then it doesn't matter who we sign. |
 | Forum Reply | That Swindon Town match report again – Report at 07:50 2 Dec 2025
A big part of why we lost was our masterplan of surrendering possession to teams. Didn't we have 28% possession in that first half? Fine when it works, but against a team low on confidence who hadn't won for 13 matches FFS, you want to start on the front foot. Then you have the Nardi issue. I thought he was great last season but since teams have targeted his reluctance to come off his line, he is a liability. Every corner felt like a potential goal in the first half. Add to that the team selection. Yes, Sam Field did a decent job on the Wednesday but we had an actual left-back, one of our best players this season, sitting on the bench while Sam gave a first-half display that his online detractors will hang in the Louvre. Then there's the midfield. Varane, if he's the player the club think he is, should be dominating games like that. If they can get £5m for him, then they should count their blessings. I like Madsen but if he's the enforcer in a two-man midfield then there's a problem. Lose the midfield like we did and you usually lose the game. The game was lost before half-time. Yes, there's always the prospect of a comeback but putting Frey on instead of Kone felt a bit like McClaren taking Pavel off that time - obviously not his final act as manager, but a completely bizarre decision that everyone in the away end knew was the wrong one. And that's before we come to Kolli, who looked decent against Hull, not even being in the squad. I haven't even mentioned fitness yet because there was so much wrong on Saturday that I don't think it was the main issue. The positive is we now have two home games and the opportunity to put this behind us. However, my feeling on Stephan is that he is making it harder than it should be. Start like that against a team who are vulnerable like Norwich were and you get what you deserve. [Post edited 2 Dec 7:53]

I don't go to many away games (and I know we've got a pretty decent away record this season) but I seem to pick the ones where we are absolute trash. It was just such a poor performance against a team who were on an appalling run of form. I agree with Clive - we will never get anywhere while we still have that kind of display in our armoury. |

I remember a 12.30pm kick-off when he started up front and we were something like 3-0 down by half-time. He ran around like a lamb gambolling in the fields. Ha ha, just seen the post above - yes, that was the game. [Post edited 1 Dec 10:48]

Yes, Varane was shocking yesterday. I've always liked him as there is clearly talent there but this season something doesn't seem right. People have cited him not chasing back hard enough for certain goals but yesterday he seemed a few seconds behind everything. I think Rangers fans will generally tolerate players with limited ability (and we've had plenty of those) if they put the effort in. With Varane, it feels like he's a talented player who has already checked out of here. |

Got to agree. Most of the time I watch us I'm not sure what our plan is. We seem most successful when we have less possession, which can't be a great strategy to build long-term. I thought Stephan's management was shocking today. How he started with Field at left back is beyond me. Fine, rest RND on Wednesday but put him straight back in on the Saturday ffs! He was our best player today. Okay, Kone's form has dipped recently but surely he's a better option than Frey. My mum is in a nursing home and she's a better option than Frey. He's obviously compromised by the goalkeeping situation but apart from that, we should be playing better football with this squad. We could barely make six-yard passes today and that's on him. Like you say, Warburton would be getting far more out of these players in terms of playing football. |

Shocking performance. Varane was pathetic, Nardi a liability and why he started Field rather than our actual left back is beyond me. Also, Kone benched when we're 3-1 down at half-time was baffling. Still not convinced by Stephan tbh. |

He was brilliant in the second half on Saturday, just like when he first signed. There is a real player there. |
