One rule for the bigger clubs and another for the little ones. The Luton punishments were always cruel and out of proportion, designed to kill the club and the fans.

In an ideal world this is probably quite true. It comes down to shopping in stores you can afford to be in, if you forgive the analogy. It seems like a lot of our recruitment comes in either from overseas or lower divisions because aside from the Ronnie Edwards transfer our ability to compete at the same level as our counterparts in this division is limited. We spent £4.5m on Edwards whilst teams around us can spend £10m+. But at least Edwards and RND have played at this level previously.

The policy seems to be to get in players from a level below us, who have potential, and try and polish them up. Problem is that players like Poku are a gamble. He's cost us £1m from League 1 and he certainly can play and is potentially a great asset, but he comes here with horrible hamstring injury issues. I guess that's why he came for £1m rather than £5m. We've taken a chance we can get him right. Unfortunately he could end up in the Richard Ord column if he keeps braking down.

Management wise it is a tough one. The better former player at championship options are limited. The ones that are around seem to command a higher fee than we are used to with no guarantees.

Love or hate Nourry I think he is trying to work with what we have and also bring in younger players that can be polished up to make the level. Where they come from as youngsters doesn't matter as much.

I am not an expert in finances at all but my uneducated guess is that we are generally unable to compete financially to get many other players who have played at Championship level in, bar a few based on our finance ability at the time.

Everyone is now calling it Loftus. It is weird.

The commentator is obviously continually masturbating whilst on coke and speed throughout that.

It's a style!

Boring boring Arsenal

The Eze thing is a bit of a worry because he is under used and shackled deep when he is. I am not sure he's enjoying the process much and after his Spurs one man show he seems to have faded. It's not great for his England place and I suspect that if he doesn't get the call he may already go out on loan. It's a shame, he's a generational talent, but seemingly a square peg in a round hole for much of his time at Arsenal so far.

I get the feeling our players get their hamstrings from Temu?

Perhaps we should try and get that lad Sam Field in on loan to cover them?

Not the worst but the game is likely to go on into the early hours of Saturday with his time keeping.

It seems that the site is timing out on me. I was just saying it is strange that a player that has played 175 times for us and always given everything, and is one of our few tall versatile left footed players is being let go on loan during an injury crisis? That's all...

If it is monetary then surely better to sell him than loan him out. Still feels like a bad idea for one of our most versatile players?

Lucky they didn't mention the dirty knife!

That is some rant. You have to love his passion but worried his heart can cope with that level of sustained anger?

We love Ollie!

I feel Sam has been very underrated and hard done by here. I always feel a lot safer with players like him, Cook and Hayden on the pitch. He's also able to play 3 left side roles so it must be that Sam feels he wants more than he's getting. Feels mad given our injuries and Varane not fit or playing that well.

The antidote – Report
at 11:03 2 Feb 2026

What a great report Clive. Just when we thought Wrexham may have killed our season they step up like that. Obviously Friday is a huge game as well, visiting two of our old strikers and a manager, who apart from being quite gracious in our last fixture with Charlton, generally hates us. Win that, or at least avoid defeat and it would have been a much better week. Hopefully this win pushes us on.

A few other honourable mentions. Vale, channeling his best Faurlin impression, linking between Bennie and Madsen so effortlessly. Harvey's hair! I mean, Harvey's luscious hair! Was this part of Cookie's BOGOF Turkish hair transplant in the summer? I haven't seen such a hair resurrection since Andros Townsend's magnificent mane.

Madsen reminding me of John Gregory in his pomp (for those of us who remember him) and young Bennie, who instinctually became the water carrier between Vale and Madsen, often mopping up around them. He has a lot to learn and possibly will need a loan but actually, with Dembele now out, and as a Vale/Madsen support act, he could really find his niche. Plus his pace. We think Burrell has pace. This lad can shift.

So many excellent performances. Kone leading the line in a way that you would hope gives him bags more confidence. That finish! Not the finish of anyone who doesn't believe in themselves. Kid in a park goal that one.

Yes the Kone one to Ipswich looks a bit far fetched.

Hopefully Field stays. With Dembele and Varane injured it would be odd to loan Morgan out.

I think we saw where Bennie can be very strong. He seemed to do a lot of water carrying work between Vale and Madsen. Like at the base of that triangle quite often. He's 19 and is learning. He has got deceptively electric pace.

I can only think he didn't give it because he felt Smyth ran in to Grimes and that Grimes couldn't get out the way.

That said I have seen them given many times.
