What are people’s thoughts on the Club pulling out all the stops in January ?
at 11:28 11 Dec 2025

Indeed Bazz. I'd much prefer that we continue to try and build a squad over the next few seasons, not only to gain promotion but as a foundation for surviving in the PL. I don't think we would survive, but it would be good to at least give a good account of ourselves.

That said, I don't particularly want promotion other than to put a decent whack of money in the coffers.

It's finished 5-1 to the Rs U18s v Oxford City U18s. Goals from Tarbotton, Sanyaolu, Hassan, Neill 2.

Next up Spurs or Brighton.

The keeper to player on the D pass
at 15:52 10 Dec 2025

The small advantages I can see are stretching the oppo's vertical shape and giving a better chance of retaining the ball than going long from the keeper.

The risks seem greater than the minor rewards though. It does feel like it's only a matter of time before it goes wrong, particularly with Nardi's nervousness with the ball at his feet.

Julien Stephan - He is doing quite well !!!!

Well yes, that is usually the case. But sometimes not. I'm thinking of Ollie's ragtag bag of players back in the day as one example.

Not to say that Stephan doesn't have a better squad than Cifuentes. He does. But for me, there seems to be a bit more to it than that.

I'd venture to say that Stephan is a better coach than Cifuentes.

There, I've said it.

To rest Burrell on Saturday would be a brave decision but it would help Kone as he'd move into the lead striker role. In doing so he'd play in the prime spaces Burrell has been occupying, and I really want to see Kone break his goal drought.

QPR Development Pathway???

QPR have no plans for Esquerdinha to go out on loan, Julien Stephan says https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/stephan-rules-out-move-for-qpr-youngster

Then surely we should be seeing him play more minutes, Stephan. No?

To coin the phrase, we should get something out of this game. Brum have a crap away record this season. We're getting up a head of steam. The team selection will be very interesting given question marks over 4 or 5 positions.

1-1 but I think I will feel a bit disappointed with that.

Osayi-Samuel plays RB now. He's not always a starter there for Brum.

Yep, Morgan might work. It's a shame Vale is still injured as he's played there.

Whoever it is, I'd like to see Smyth start on the left as he'd be a great help to the LB when defending.

Left back v Brum
at 15:51 7 Dec 2025

If Norrington Davies can't play on Tuesday (as per WLS as few days ago) and Field is out until Saturday at the earliest, who's the LB v Brum?

JCS has played LB but he himself may well be rested. Mbengue was tried there earlier in the season, but not to great effect. So it may have to be Esquerdinha, although he hasn't been in contention lately.

Good points about Madsen, who I also thought played well. To my eyes, he's playing further back this season as a deep-lying playmaker and is clearly the one expected to start passages of play. I think it's a role he's growing into, and doing so pretty well.

It might have been me but I found much of the game unusually flat, even though both sides seemed to work hard. WBA were rather ordinary but at least we were able to make things happen, and in the end deserved the win.

I'm pleased Kone played well and that his contribution has been acknowledged. He still needs a goal though. I can't think he's content to play provider for Burrell.

Burrell's continuing scoring streak is remarkable. Can he continue and perhaps even improve? We'll want to think so and I don't see why not. A little better ball control would reap further rewards for the lad.

WBA's highlights have a bit more

Cider, at the game we were comparing Burrell to Clive Allen. Burrell isn't at Allen's level but he has the same striker's instinct for being in the right place at the right time.
