 | News Comment | Southampton V Hull City The Verdict at 12:06:30
There is something inherently wrong in our club.I read about many conspiracy theories some of which seem plausible but none of which are provbable. I have wondered almost since SR took over why so many back room staff turn out to be short term appointments Is it all about money? I believe that we have a reasonable, but bloated squad. We should reduce it in this window but not by shipping out experienced players OK Baz isn't the best keeper in the world but he has been there and done it Likewise Fraser We are surely now at the point where the players personal pride should kick in.Just go out there and play to the best of your ability |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Hull City The Preview at 12:19:25
I will go to the game more in hope than anticipation I would prefer a back 4 as we started with it at Donny using fringe players My cb pairing would probably be THB and Capt Calamity who in fairness does get a good score on headed clearances Just hope the don't run at him Remember RoKo dropping Boric unfavourable of Forster when AB hadn't done anything wrong That didn't work out bad and got us a top 8 finish I don't see Peretz anymore of a gamble than that Against Donny I saw him shouting orders,I saw him trying different ways of getting us to go forward .A little gang ho at times but give him a break |
 | News Comment | Bazunu Leaves St Mary's ! Are Southampton Really Going To Gamble On An Inexperienced Keeper at 22:06:16
Bazunu was where our tippy tappy started Perhaps this the SR way of breaking up the cartel of tippy tappy He was partially impeded for the first goal although should have done better with the second Shoot from around 18yrds against Baz,low across the keeper and you stood a good chance I'll wait a half dozen ga.es before making a call on Peretz but agree the SR track record is not good |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Doncaster Rovers The Verdict at 11:14:15
He finally tried a back four with fringe players now let's try it with first choice players Either Roeslev or Jelert was touted as a player who could play in either full back position so when fit that would solve that one THB and which other cb is the question I'm loathe to suggest it because I don't rate him at all but captain calamity is probably the best bet Unless of couurse they surprise us and buy a 32 year old cb with EPL experience Looking forward to seeing Charles playing with Jander as the holding pair or with Downes if we go 4 3 3 If we play out with pace we can score goals From the cup tie Peretz was a bit gung ho at times but he didn't always want to play tippy tappy That's a big plus |
 | News Comment | Gavin Bazunu Tipped For Move From Southampton To Stoke City at 10:50:21
I would like to think Rambo is coming back but I very much doubt it I thought Peretz was coming as No2 to Bazunu because AM is out of contract in the summer I wasn't surprised to see him in the cup game and thought he did OK The second goal maybe he should have saved In recent games Baz has kept us alive a few times and I was hopeful that he was getting better than ok On the positive side ourr newbie did try a couple of different ways of getting out of defense One time he tried throwing the ball to Fellows but didn't quite get it right and there was less tippy tappy As per normal I'll judge him after more game |

A chance for Tonda to exercise his authority over the squad Peretz Jelert THB Quarshie Wellington Bragg Jander Fellows Robinson Scienza Archer Bench McCarthy Williams Matsuyki Sesay Romeu Stewart Oyekunle |
 | News Comment | RIP Martin Chivers A Southampton FC Legend at 19:48:14
Chivers was the first named player to be sold by Saints after I became a Saints fan I can also remember him playing for England alongside Channon Imagine a striker that gets 95 goals in 174 games His value today would be in the hundreds of millions Thanks Martin. RIP |
 | News Comment | Daily Echo Hint At Player Power Issues In Southampton Squad at 12:41:16
I posted after Tondas 5th or 6th game that I believed senior players were dictating the style of play to a young inexperienced coach And I have stood by it subsequently. I know many didn't like the tippy happy under RM.but it worked and got us promoted. The difference then is that the whole team played that style Now it's just the keeper,Stevens,THB,Manning and Downes They are the same players who were an automatic choice under RM I remember posts on here criticising their selection at different times A new position was even created for Stevens who is still IMO our worst player Spors as DoF should be all over this and laying down the law |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Middlesbrough The Verdict at 10:55:31
I thought seriously embarrassing losses were a thing of the past and that in the Championship we would win more than we lose Yesterday's performance has knocked all the optimism out of me What have Sports Republic done to correct the last 6 match fiasco? They have appointed an assistant coach with a very iffy record as this level is concerned Even more worrying is the fact that Garner will step up when Tonda is relieved of his dutys |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Middlesbrough The Preview at 11:17:52
Back to the bad times here. I just can't see us getting anything out of this game Borough will have had 3 home games over the holiday period whilst we have had 3 away Travelling will take its toll on the players and the fans |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Millwall The Preview at 11:29:55
Stats are confusing really I would look at Millwalls away record an say they have managed to get something out of over 66% of games Put that way they sound so much better Using the same criteria for our home games we have got something out of over80% of games It's even better than that since Tonda took charge As long as we don't allow them to bully us I give us a good chance of all 3 points today if Here's hoping he starts some of those who did such a good job off the bench at Brum |
 | News Comment | Southampton Set to Take Keeper On Loan at 10:14:09
I can only see Peretz coming as a replacement for Alex who I believe is out of contract in the summer Rambo was never going to replace Pope and although he has been dropped from the league side he will probably keep his place in the cups and some Euro games If Newcastle gave us our money back on him then a bid for Johansson would be feasible and tough for Stoke to reject |
 | News Comment | Two Key Areas That Southampton Need To Sort Out In The Transfer Window at 10:56:14
I don't believe that any keeper better than Baz would come to a mid table championship side CB wise I would off load 2 of our 5 and bring in a new Jiose Fonte Maguire from Man utd for example Our m/f looks pretty good once Charles is available He would also be first choice for team captain Bragg is a candidate for going out on loan to get valuable experience in men's football Up front Archer and Downes don't give us much at this level so if we should sneak promotion they will then be surplus to requirements Stewart is on the way back and if he becomes available during this window then SR will not splash out on another tall(ish) striker If we don't get promoted then we would become a very attractive take over targett |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Birmingham City The Verdict at 17:56:33
The best part was that our subs actually improved our performance. They gave us control over the last 20 minutes and a chance of 3 points The back 4 of THB Wood Baz and Stevens still try to play tippy happy at a slow pace Any team that plays a high press is likely to cash in on it I want Leo to go back to taking the defenders on rather than trying to find the perfect pass If he gets around the back he can cause havoc with a cross or a shot Tonda is now averaging less than 2 points per game Unless that improves a play off place will disappear |
