I doubt any Club bid 5 million pounds for Varane, but the rumour seems to have raised expectations of him. I think he has played pretty well this season and did again yesterday. For me the player who regularly starts but is playing badly at present is Kone. He set up Portsmouth's goal for them on Boxing day, and got climbed all over by Campbell for WBA's first goal yesterday, and has been pretty much invisible as an attacking threat these 2 away games. |

I thought Esquerdinha was ok last night. Don't remember him doing much wrong defensively and did well getting forward out wide on occasion. He was a bit better than Morgan on the right. |

Kone was defending a corner. His atrocious ball control knocked it nicely back to Devlin who put it away. [Post edited 26 Dec 18:24]

I don't follow them but thought they still have many of the same players as last season. Whatever I wouldn't want us to be buying an entirely new team, just a moderate strengthening, but doubt it will happen. |

Sunderland look like they are making a decent fist of this, and we beat them up there at the end of the regular season last spring. [Post edited 21 Dec 11:02]

I'm hoping Marti gets warm applause when he walks out today. He certainly will from me from a long way off. |

My first game the 2-0 home win against Liverpool 75/76 season. Played right through them for the first, goal of the season.. Not sure we've ever been better. |

Many of us fans, maybe a majority, say they don't want us in the PL., that may well rub off on some players too. Not Ilias Chair based on what he has said, which I liked. We are already in the top half of the table so why only target a top half finish? We are only 4 points off a play-off position so for me now a play-off position should be our target. If we achieve that then the next target has got to be to win them. Go for it, without breaching the P&S regulations, within what our owners are up for doing, and strengthening only where we tried to in August at CB and GK if RND is with us the full season. |

I wouldn't be paying too much for Edwards because he is not great in the air and he really is not big enough for a CB these days. If we brought him in the last player to partner him with would be JCS who is also not great in the air and especially in his recent come back games isn't looking strong or quick enough. If Edwards returns and plays CB you'd need to partner him with Dunne for his aerial prowess and let Edwards do your stepping into midfield. |

If the owners are willing to fund it and we do it while keeping within the P&S rules, then Go for it. We need a good Championship level GK, a LB unless RND will stay, a big mother of a CB, not Edwards and if we are buying midfielders / attackers they need big mothers there too. The team needs to strengthen in line with Leagues that are getting more physical not less. Some of the undersized need moving on. |

It has looked to me like Smyth can throw long as he does at some away grounds where he's got room to get a good run at it. At Loftus Road sometimes he has run along the side of the touchline then twist as he throws, or he starts crouching with his arse almost in the front row of the crowd, neither work for him so well. |
