Today gets even better. West Brom are beating Hull. If current form continues, we'll overtake Hull before the end of the season. Blackburn are winning away at Millwall too. They'll go above Pompey, who are now in deep relegation trouble. [Post edited 14 Mar 16:57]

Lampard must be absolutely fuming. He'd have so badly wanted to win today. Eckert beat him to the Manager of the Month award then beat his team in Coventry. Any respect I had for Lampard has gone out of the window with his post match cry baby behaviour and whingeing. |

Even the best young goalkeepers will make a few mistakes, but Peretz has made some great saves and improved with every game. We've only lost one of the 13 games he's played. |

Trump is calling for other countries to bale him out of the mess he's got himself into in Iran. It's going the same way as other American attacks of recent decades: Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia... They will be glad to just escape from the terrible mess they've created, leaving thousands of dead behind them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/liv |

Why did I ever doubt it? He is an absolutely brilliant manager. Teams like Saints don't usually get managers this good. W16 D6 L5 [Post edited 14 Mar 14:44]

Absolutely brilliant; even better than the win at Fulham. 12 games without defeat. Bring on Arsenal. We've got by far the best manager in the league. |

Our squad really doesn't look good enough to beat Coventry. We were even talking about being relegated earlier in the season. Top 8 yes, but top 2, nowhere near good enough. Anything other than a defeat today would be very much against the odds. Coventry 4/5 Saints 3/1 Draw 14/5 |
 | Forum Reply | Coventry Game Matchday Thread at 11:44 14 Mar 2026
Why doesn't this happen to Coventry? They have 15 of the strongest and best players in the Championship who always seem to be fit. They have better attacking players on their subs bench than we have in our starting lineup. It's almost like they thought about these things when they did their recruitment. We can only hope that Eckert performs some sort of magic today against what appears to be a much stronger team. [Post edited 14 Mar 11:47]

Having watched the home game against them and seeing the Coventry lineup today, it's probably our hardest league game of the season. They have better players than ours in nearly every position (from our team today, only Harwood-Bellis would be good enough to possibly get in their team) and we only managed to draw against them at St Mary's because they had a player sent off. With all the goal scorers Coventry have, you'd expect them to score at least 2 goals, so if we manage to avoid defeat today it will be quite an achievement. [Post edited 14 Mar 11:30]

You've thrown us a curve ball there, just when we were expecting a Saints players named after vegetables thread. |

A 10.40pm finish after extra time and penalties would mean most fans would miss their last train home anyway, even if it weren't cancelled. |

Even a defeat would have a silver lining. A win for West Brom tonight would make Pompey's relegation much more likely. In fact, looking at Pompey's current form, I don't think they'd survive. |

It's not going to be their first team. All of their first team players have got 2 international games after the League Cup Final, so they'll be rested for our game, especially if it's on the Saturday.. |

Even 10 months ago, at the end of last season, they were lucky to beat us 2-1 with a last minute goal. We've got a better manager now.. |

We'll have Shea Charles, who is a better player than Downes. I expect Charles will relish the opportunity to show what he can do against Arsenal. Let's look forward to it with optimism. We've got a great manager who finds ways to win games. [Post edited 9 Mar 19:51]

Our home record against Arsenal in recent years has been very good, including beating them, when they were FA Cup holders, the last time they played here in the FA Cup. Winning the Premier League is their priority so they will rest players. [Post edited 9 Mar 19:40]

These rules are not hard and fast. If the setup at the stadium doesn't permit it, then the away allocation can be less. Newcastle seem to get away with a lot because of the special circumstances at their stadium. Big cup games is where the old setup hurt as most, as our 'home end' disappeared.
