Yeah, they only gave us a few hundred tickets for the away bit cause they were redeveloping the south bank.
I was I the north bank too as we tore them a new one. I had to join in their insulting Les just to hide my laughter. Somehow I managed to stay alive after a 4-0 demolition.
Stayed back in the terrace after the game and met loads of other Rangers in there including my brother and his the woman, who had never been to a football game before and apparently cheered every time we scored! They were both in one piece so must have been an lsd trip in Queen Street.
Got pissed in Hammersmith afterwards and got a slap in the face from an ex who thought I was t wat.
Yeah, that season scarred me. It was just dreadful from beginning to end. I know we have had lots of shit since but 2000/01 just seemed to be the end of Rangers.
It was also when I decided to let go of Rangers. It couldn’t dictate my moods anymore. Took quite some time to truly let that happen but I’m at the pint now where I don’t care what happens to them.
A dreadful 1-0 home win live on Sky one Sunday in front of 8,000 sufferers sticks out as a right pain in the arse. Barker penalty won it I think, but it was f ucking dreadful.
Also a freezing cold 0-0 v Shrewsbury at home in 1980 was a particular low mark for a ten year old. Bored my young bollocks off.
