Tonda says he's NOT worried about being sacked.
at 21:15 19 Jan 2026

Being an under 21 coach is very different to managing the first team

An under 21 coach's job is to develop young players and prepare them for first team football, whilst its good to win its more about player development

Totally different in the first team, you're judged on results and not much more

Personally I think its just he's a young, inexperienced manager who's been worked out, hasn't developed a plan b and is in charge of a toxic dressing room where the senior players who should be setting the standards are letting him down

Spors must have known that there were issues with the dressing room culture before TE was appointed so why he felt appointing the under 21 coach who had no experience was a good idea looks foolhardy to say the least

I appreciate that he won 6 out of 7 but the performance away at Millwall and the drop off in the second half of games was concerning

If we go down this season, is that the end of the parachute payments?

Just had to look it up and it appears that Luton got 40 million this summer so I assume so

at 15:38 18 Jan 2026

I doubt he is
Getting the sack doesn't have the stigma it used to have nowadays, numerous sackings made Mark Hughes a vey rich man and he can still pick up jobs in the game

When he goes it will be a shame as we'll have lost another coach who was doing good work with the u21 side

Also he'd be extremely foolish to come out and say that he was fearful of losing his job, any credibility he had left would be gone

The last 3 paragraphs could be what the club use in the summer when selling season tickets

Just add be in that number and secure yours now and bingo

Joking aside its a shambolic state of affairs

What will Sports Republic charge for Leicester F A. Cup Tickets?
at 13:30 18 Jan 2026

That reminds me of how I felt when we lost 2-1 at home to Doncater in about 2009

We scored late on through Saganowski? and I could barely bother to raise a cheer

I wanted to come to the Leicester game as the FA Cup still means a lot to me, but were doing something else in the evening and more importantly I can't be arsed with it all at the moment

I'd bypass Tonda and bowl into the dressing room

Forget the hungry eyes nonsense I'd go full on John Sitton

When does the bad feeling end?
at 13:01 18 Jan 2026

This kind of sums up how I feel about Saints and not wanting to constantly post negative views all the time

At the risk of being patronizing to anyone my granddad told my dad something when he was a nipper and he said it to me when I was a similar age "If you want to support a team that wins most weeks then maybe Saints aren't the team for you"
Easier for me to say as I know I'm not a Sotonian but I've never forgotten that

We are a provincial club and were going through a poor spell that most clubs of our size do

Whilst being quiet work wise recently, I'm self employed, ive taken the opportunity to sort out a load of stuff around my house and found a box full of old UI and On The March fanzines, reading through some of them again reconnected me with the passion and obsession I had with the club when I was younger. It also made me realize how lucky I was to have been old enough to experience going to matches in the 80's and early 90's and experience proper terrace culture. Standing under the east stand at The Dell and the spurs away fa cup tie in 1990 in particular are some of my happiest memories of watching The Saints

I try to be pragmatic about where we are as a club right now, if we have to get relegated again to have a clear out and re-set then so be it.
Whilst I try to convince myself that I don't care anymore, its bollocks, my wife just rolls her eyes when I go off on one and tells me if I'm not going to bother wasting my time with Saints anymore then I should "probably get the badge you have tattooed on your left arm removed then"

We were pony when we got relegated in 2005, a complete shambles when we went into administration in 2009 and recovered and we will again

Will Saints stay up?
at 10:42 18 Jan 2026

If you'd asked me this question over Christmas I wouldn't have had to even think twice
At that point we still had an outside chance of making the Play offs

Now I'm not so sure, if they stick with Ekhart then I think we'll get dragged into a dogfight and as we've seen in the two previous relegations this club has no backbone or fight in it anymore

This week is going to be crucial, stop the rot and get at least 2 points and hopefully we can muddle through till the end of the season, any less and we're definitely looking over our shoulder

Give me a Tommy Widdrington or Simon Charlton over most of our current players, yes they were limited but they had professional pride and gave everything on the pitch

Where does the blame lie?
at 23:22 17 Jan 2026

Solak for me too

He owns the club and its his money the funds it and if I remember correctly he said his was going to take a more hands on role after Kraft was moved out

I may be wrong but it appears to me that the whole organization has no idea of how to run a football club. The long list of poor managerial appointments, 2 relegations and 3 managers both times, the cost involved in hiring and then firing those managers must be eye watering. That's even before we get on to the backroom staff and player recruitment

We just seem to stumble from one bad decision to another and the fact that no lessons appear to be learnt from previous mistakes suggest that no-one is prepared to take responsibility or be held to account

There is one person who could stop this nonsense, the owner, surely he can't be happy seeing his investment going down the khazi?

Whilst I'm no fan of playing with 5 at the back I read a rather salient point earlier on

It's possible that the reason we persist with this formation is because our full back options are so poor that they cannot be trusted to defend in a back 4

Best way for supporters to protest against the current situation is simply not to buy a ticket for this game. The owners already have your season ticket money for league games, but not this one

Whilst protests outside the ground are well meaning they do very little
I remember being at the protest against Rupert Lowe after an evening game against
Crystal Palace, plenty there by Ted's statue and they just shut the curtains and probably turned the music up in the hospitality suites so those inside where none the wiser

I appreciate that many people will still go for various reasons and I respect that but if you really want to make a point that the owners take notice of, an empty stadium will probably do that

The only way I could see this happening would be if we sold Shea Charles

He'll be into the last year of his contract in the summer and I would be very surprised if he extends.

Better than what we have currently but there are other areas in the team than need addressing before even thinking about bringing him back

He's also on 125 grand a week at West Ham so we couldn't afford him even if we wanted him

If we did the reaction from one poster on here would be something to behold though

I'd say the answer to point 2 is he was probably watching the snooker, John Higgins comeback was probably much more exciting and entertaining that what was on offer at St Marys today

Why I think we shouldn’t sack Tonda
at 19:04 17 Jan 2026

On another thread after the Boro defeat I sarcastically predicted that Garner would be caretaker manager in a few weeks time, probably not beyond the realms of possibility if we lose the next two games

Might as well put Spors in charge as it looks to me like he's calling the shots and setting up another young and inexperienced manager to carry the can for his poor decisions

Quite Astonishing given our close season spending.
at 18:54 17 Jan 2026

Numb apathy for me nowadays

Posting on the thread about crap players from yesteryear reminded me how much more I was emotionally invested in the club, we might have been shit but at least I felt the players gave their best, the manager was doing what was best for the team and the owners on the whole had the right intentions for the club

This mob who own us now have been a complete disaster, I cannot think of anything they've done that has improved the club and when they leave will it be left in a better state than when they found it? I very much doubt it
Right now I can only see one outcome, relegation either this season or next and the only way they sell up is when they've sold off the last asset of any value and then cut their losses

I don't know what's more misguided, the owners making the same decisions time after time, or me hoping for a different outcome on a match day

I know, crossed wires

My old man was at the Leeds game too

He was pretty shocked when I told him that AD had been named on the bench after his debut a few days before

I see your Richard Dryden

I'll raise with Scott Marshall

2games, 2 own goals

I remember when we signed him from Arsenal he was pretty highly rated

Alan Bennett was very poor too

He didn't get on the pitch for the Oxford game

I found some footage of the highlights of the game on YouTube

Nice goal from Richard Dryden, I see he been mentioned on this thread but he was a cheap signing on the recommendation of Terry Cooper and whilst he wasn't great, at least you could see he was trying his best

Van Gobble was playing in that game too, looked absolutely hopeless from the highlights
