West Ham United 1 v 0 Southampton
Barclays Premier League
Sunday, 2nd April 2023 Kick-off 14:00

We played a full part in making it a really dull unmemorable match.

Can't get angry because the players just didn't seem that bothered, so why should I?

Not much sign of any 'Great escape' or even a goal barring Onuachu's header of the crossbar - yes finally!

Four of our five January signings on the bench (the fifth didn’t even make the squad)….three of the four summer signings that started today wouldn’t get into any other prem team….Walcott and Mo first choice….is it any wonder why we are going down?

Tedious. Will never create or score with such pedestrian build up. Why wait until defence is organised before trying to attack. Been playing this way all season & surprise surprise the result is the same. Yet another goal from a set piece allowing a free header. I've lost count how many we've conceded like that, what do they do on training. Have been positive up til now but I 'm afraid the seasons over.

If we start with this lineup when it is obvious there are better players on the bench than we will get what we deserve. And that’s what happened, until we can find a way into the opposition’s box we will always find it hard to get any results and it continues to be a problem.

I think that's it I'm afraid. We will all continue on with the mathematical calculations but basically what we watched out there today is what we have watched so often this season and it equals relegation. That's about the fifth or sixth 0-0 we have contrived to lose 1-0 by giving away a soft goal. A very average Wet Spam simply defended and waited for the goal Moyes knew we would give them. Not sure it was lack of effort as such SaintPaul - it was more a lack of strength, experience and, let's be brutally honest, quality. Wet Spam were rubbish but they beat us comfortably. Why didn't Tall Paul play from the start? Little Theo and little Mara got exactly what we all expected they would get - nothing. Three sides worse than us? I can't think of one...

Very much on par for the mediocre version of Southampton 22/23 which we have seen often this season. Urgency lacking in general, quality in short supply in the final third - as per usual. Tall Paul nearly heads one in - but was that not the only cross that came his way? No excuse not to get at least a point off a poor West Ham side (with Ings totally ineffective). Now we have to face the top 3 in our next run of 4 games ! Looking bleak …

Most players useless. Lavia looks good even in a sh*t team - let's enjoy him for the few games he has left with Saints.

Not all the player's fault though. Selles set them up to fail with his brainless tactics which just repeated all of Saints classic weaknesses over the last 2 years. He doesn't look like he's learning so I think we'll need to bring in a real manager in the summer to try and bounce straight back.

No chance with Elyou-nooseyourself and Mr sideways, backwards, joggy, joggy in MF. Need a new corner taker and Captain.

Why do we persist in the remarkably unsuccessful 4-2-2 System? We had a dreadfully defensive line up, started slowly & never really deserved anything, ponderous would be an understatement, no urgency no energy & absolutely no way we are staying up with this style of play.
Crap game by both sides but who would have thought we would be undone by a free kick?
Pretty much all of us is the answer. I can accept relegation (just about) but only if we go down fighting & with this team & style of play it's pretty much guaranteed.
Depressed, you bet ☹☹☹

Should have read that prior to posting, Pretty much guaranteed we'll go down but very unlikely that we'll go down fighting!
