OK, as i said my view of the touchline is not good, but my point about the no.12 not being booked despite a number of fouls and a talking to still stands.

The ref was very poor and awarded many soft free kicks whilst not giving to QPR. He even missed an obvious handball from Moore in the 1st half when only a few yards away with a clear view.

That really annoyed me too. How on Earth do you kick off and give the ball back to the opposition?

QPR have become almost useless at retaining possession and struggle to string 3 passes together. Can't blame it on the pitch as it us the same or worse at away games.

Stephan needs to work better with them to coach passing, set pieces and shooting.

As for the other coaching staff like Steve Bould, what do they do? Our set pieces are terrible (apart from the corner today for Cook's goal). Free kicks and throw ins look like hit and hope rather than something that is worked on.

I was saying the same thing to the fan next to me and then bang bang they scored twice because there wasn't an out ball anymore. Prior to the added time, QPR had Kolli and Kone as focal points to hit the ball to and the latter forced a corner and the former a shot that was narrowly wide.

That all changed when the 4 minutes were added. Suddenly they all sat deep with no outlet.

I will add that Wrexham know how to shoot. 3 goals , a couple of good saves from Walsh and another blocked. Why can't QPR players shoot on target?

As for the ref, he was shocking. He rarely gave QPR a free kick, couldn't wait to award them to Wrexham and how he never booked the no.12 or even the one who pushed Smyth in the 1st half when all the usual jostling at set pieces , I will never understand. Anywhere else that happens , it's a free kick and a booking.

I couldn't see along the touchline clearly from the SAR stand, but Mbengue was booked for his 1st foul yet the Wrexham no.12 had committed at least 3 fouls and constant holding and only received a talking to. Of course, he then sent Mbenge off for his reckless push which probably proved crucial in Wrexham's win.

Dembélé new boo boy?
at 14:19 21 Jan 2026

He has some ability, but that is shown very few and very far between. He loses possession and falls to the ground looking for a free kick or doesn’t try and rescue the situation. He is lazy and rarely tracks back let alone get a tackle in. His stats are also quite poor.

I know that some of the same criticism can be said of Saito or Smyth but at least they have a good work rate and make tackles or win headers.

If QPR receive an offer for Dembele I think it should be seriously considered, because Stephan doesn’t appear to be able to improve him (if anything, he is getting worse than he was under Cifuentes).

Maybe you missed some of the games where teams trounced QPR. Home games include Everton winning 4-0 and 5-1 in 1976 and 1977. Or more recently Leeds 4-0 after Peacock was sold to Newcastle. Or how about the latter’s 6-0 win in 2017, Blackburn’s 4-0 win under Ainsworth or last season Burnley’s 5-0?

Or maybe you meant the fact that both teams had contributed to the dullest of games you have ever seen that QPR participated in, in which case sorry I misinterpreted your post.

You have a good point about we’re QPR are now and that is not necessarily what most fans would have expected in August. Many were thinking 16th. Although that position is not too many points away. However this is an open league and how many fans would have thought Preston Hull and Millwall would be where they are?

I agree conditions were terrible yesterday and the squad is depleted through injuries, but 2 goalless draws and just 3 shots on target in those matches is dreadful.

It doesn’t help that the wingers are played on the wrong wings for their feet! I would understand why Smyth was on the left last night if it was to help Esqerdinha , but I doubt that is what Stephan was thinking.

The Oxford are in the bottom 2 for a reason and QPR have drawn 0-0 home and away to this lot. And that’s on top of losing both games to Norwich when they were in the bottom 3.

I can understand the fans’ frustration given how much Stephan has been able to spend on the squad.

Unfortunately I suspect QPR will have to endure 2 more disappointing performances and results at home to Wrexham and Coventry before things improve.

He fell awkwardly and was carried off on a stretcher. Hopefully he hasn't been seriously injured.

Dire conditions , but that is a pathetic attempt to play football from both sides.

Neither seem capable of making more than 3 passes together to a teammate. The shooting is poor, only Smyth has managed to force a save from a keeper.

Smyth should be on the right wing, but with Esquerdinha at left back he needs to stay on the left to provide defensive duties. No way would Dembele be of use defensively if they switched.

I think Stephan will need to make changes, but he will probably wait until the 60-70 minute mark to do so.

It does seem a lot, but at least he knew how to score goals, many before and since have earnt decent money without scoring anything like him.

It also explains why he was sold.

That would be good move for him to get some games in and maybe into Scotland's World Cup squad.

I'd never heard of Burrell either, but he has been a big success until hus injury, so here's hoping the same with Obikwu.

He has height and pace, so can help out against Wrexham on Saturday, most probably as a sub coming on for Kone (who must be tired having played so many matches without a break).

I think he is in as a replacement for Frey rather than having no confidence in Kone.

With Burrell bring injured for at least another 6 weeks singing another striker was vital if QPR are to stay competitive in the top half this season.

Yes that trigger baffled me because he had not done much other than 2 corner deliveries that led to goals, 1 on his debut at Sheffield United.

It doesn't help that they are selected to play on the wings for their weaker foot. They don't get to the byline or deliver a quick cross into the area and instead try and cut inside to shoot (nearly always off target).

A well written and accurate report on that poor excuse of a football match.

Absolutely no ambition to win that match except during the added time. I know QPR had a depleted squad, but so did Stoke.

I agree with those who say we need to go to Oxford tomorrow and start with a change in formation.

Maybe Smyth in the Burrell position, but with 3 in central midfield (4-3-1-2) and perhaps Bennie or Morgan behind the front 2.

No place in the starting lineup for Dembele, even Smyth if he is not in the middle alongside Kolli or Kone. Their performance on Saturday was shocking and imo were both worth a rating of 3 or 4. Admittedly, Dembele was being fouled a lot in the 1st half, but overall was poor.

Afcon final
at 10:38 19 Jan 2026

Some strange decisions in the final and I think I heard them say Nigeria were unhappy with some in their match against Morocco (a bit like the ones that ‘helped’ co hosts South Korea get to the semis in 2002). The ref was clearly instructed to award the penalty, but disallowing the Senegalese goal a few minutes earlier was his decision.

I don’t blame the Senegal coach for taking his players off the pitch. He had to make a point about the dodgy refereeing. I think the long delay and Mendy’s words to Dias got into his head, but there’s no excuse for the pathetic attempt at a Panenka. Just get some power behind a head height shot down the middle.

Totally agree. He is a very useful player to have in the squad and can cover midfield, centre back and left back positions.

£1m or whatever it is QPR would receive would not be worth selling him.

Stoke fans on QPR (whose side are you on?)
at 13:08 18 Jan 2026

That's what I grew up watching as well and yesterday's performance was the opposite if that. I know there are injured players missing, but there was still enough in the squad to have gone out to try and play rather than ×hithousing for much of the game.

When teams come to QPR and do what they did yesterday we fans would be feeling the same as the Stoke fans do. Remember Blackpool a few seasons ago when they came and won 1-0 .

Alfie Lloyd recalled

I agree, but perhaps QPR will get another striker in on loan and send Lloyd out to another club.

If not, Lloyd as a sub will probably cause more worries to opponents than Dembele is doing.

Mbengue

Agree that Mbengue’s crosses were poor , but he did put one that almost led to Kone scoring - the defender got to it and conceded a corner.

I do agree that Adamson did well when he came on, but that was as a right winger (much better than Dembele).
