think there were two boats.... one held 250, the other 450...
the larger of the two was cancelled because it was in dry dock and was gonna remain for the forseable future.... another one was got, it holds 550, thats why there are still a few tickets going...
stood in the loft for that one, little fulham mob to our right, good natured, in the days when other firms used to try take ends...ours was the loft. atmosphere was great and as a 15 year old games like these, london derbies, were a must to attend....looking there at don givens etc brings back so many great memories, so good to have been alive 60'and 70's including the music....
managed to get one of them restricted view tickets....dont know how bad they are. gave the boat a miss this year and opted to get an early train from hammersmith to north greenwich and shack up in the holiday inn, just down the road from the station...
dont forget the bike lanes that are as wide as a car lane....
take king street/hammersmith for instance. a bus broke down outside marks and spencer , if you dont know king street, its a one way street with two lanes, both same size one for cars one for bikes, with them poles dividing the two lanes. ok the traffic had to be diverted down shepherds bush road and turn left at goldhawk road... but the two buses and remaining cars still behind that broken down bus must have been a nightmare to get out.
6 months later the same roads are all up again.....different company.... thames water, gas, electric, broadband etc,,, couple of years ago, from jubilee clock past the court houses down towards harlesden train station, the whole road was tarmac'd....beautiful smooth bit of road...
6 months later once all the firms were out with their kango's it was back to square one....
as well as all the youngsters following the r's home and away, a lot of the older lot are season ticket holders that have moved out. 3 i meet up every week for home games travel from wigan, claydon/ipswich, and lowestoft.
