Second half feels like a game for Edwards. Bringing the ball out from the back and beating there press

Playing with more ball playing players and we look better for it. Also Kone looking better being the focal point and closer to goal. Dropping back to find space rather than starting deeper

Very much worth a punt, as he has pace and hopefully some physicality about him. Stuff we need and pleasing to see that this now appears to be part of the player profile we are looking at after our days off trying to get tippy tappy players in.

It is scripted (pretty much like the pre and post-match interviews.....) but I think you can still learn a bit by how the player engages with the interviewer and how he says the words

Kone will come good. Adapting to the league and not able to boss defenders like he did in league 1. The team don't really play to his strengths. He needs be in and around the box more

I do think he could attempt to do more but I also think the players could give him more options when he is on the ball. We can see he has the passing ability but maybe he won't force a pass if he doesn't think it is on. I have seen a number of times when he has 'played it safe' he gestures to the person who he wanted to get the ball for not getting in good position.

He said he sounds like him, not implying that he is. Don't twist other people's words to try and fit your narrative. There's a good lad

Heaven forbid the guy who writes the great and detailed reports takes notes. I bet if he didn't and they were inaccurate, the same person would be moaning about that with some witty retort, only they find funny. So desperate to be noticed, they don't even make sense now

I said on another post that I think Edwards and Madsen would be a good partnership, whilst Cook and Dunne are doing well at the back.

At the same time though, I think we would gain something with having Edwards at the back and breaking the first line of the press. Dunne tries to do it and sometimes it works but a lot of the time, he twists and turns on himself and either punts it clear or passes it back

We need some of our players back. They are all pieces to the puzzle and when so many are missing or looking knackered it changes the picture. Kone doesn't look the same player at the moment. Looks heavy legged. First season in the highest league to date he has played in, probably not use to the speed and tempo. He will adjust but with the new striker, maybe give Kone a rest. Kolli or Bennie along side would work.

I agree. Think Nardi is on his way out and the plan is for Walsh to be number one and Hamer as the backup. Previously a lot of people said Walsh needed a chance, so there must be something there. I think having a settled defence will help him. He has done well the last two game. Although our forward play has been lacking and the games themselves have been poor, we have looked solid and not so long ago those two games would have been 1-0, 2-0 loses. Hopefully some attacking threat when players return.

If Vale can get back up to speed he should be on the right for the moment. He doesn't have the speed of Dembele but a better football brain and can see a pass too

Not at all Brian. I was saying I would hope as he couldn't use his hands in training he used the time to work on dealing with the ball at his feet. Looks like he has or the confidence of having Dunne and Cook in front of him helps. They won't give him a hospital pass

Dembélé new boo boy?

Really? I thought he started ok but then disappeared. He just seems to give up. Tried to tussle then stops almost like he thinks no one expects him to win due to his stature. Needs to come out the team for a bit in my opinion as not offering much

Felt tonight the game was calling for something different. Sadly nothing on the bench to offer that. Hopefully the new guy will be like a Burrell MK2 and pester a few defenders. Like you said though, poor game and should have won. We move on in hope. It's called supporting your club

I guess with a broken wrist not much else he could do. What I also liked, can't remember if it was against West Ham or Stoke he was getting crowded at set pieces and wasn't catching the ball cleanly. So opted to punch. Assessed the issue and adapted. I do think he helps the defenders as they know he will tend to come for things

He looks more assured than before. Not overly rested but it's a start. Also looks a bit more comfortable with the ball at his feet
