The Swans are now two points away from a play-off place, in stark contrast to the Millers, who are now 14 games without a win and prop up the League One table. Abbott opened his Swansea account after 20 minutes with his first goal since his move from Huddersfield, heading home Kevin Amankwaah's perfect cross from the right. Lee Trundle went close with a clever lob from Marcos Painter's long-range pass but his effort looped just over the crossbar. Swansea could have had two more early in the second half through Andy Robinson and Abbott before Trundle doubled their lead in the 61st minute, crashing in an unstoppable shot from just inside the penalty area.
