The Ox hints at surpassing Theo
The Ox hints at surpassing Theo

Former Southampton winger stars for Engand U21s in Iceland.

£12 million signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has impressed in his brief appearances in an Arsenal shirt and he strengthened his reputation with a composed hat-trick on international duty.

His first saw him dribble into the box and slot the ball into the far corner, the second was a calm, poacher's finish after the 'keeper spilled a cross and the third was a low strike from an angle that squeezed past the Iceland stopper at his near post. A variety of goals from a player who has more to his game than you may have initially expected.

After the young Englishman scored his first for Arsenal in the win over Olympiakos, Pat Rice hinted that Theo should be looking over his shoulder and Fabio Capello also appears to be ready to include the Ox in his plans for Euro 2012. He obviously has the pace of Walcott but he also has a better awareness and is more likely to select the right option. Our number 14 is a great weapon but he can be infuriatingly inconsistent and all too often pace is his only effective asset.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the brightest prospect in English football and although many, including TheArse baulked at his price tag in the summer, the early signs are that he will be a bigger success than our last purchase from the south coast.
