Older Saints fans are demanding revenge for the 1902 FA Cup Final defeat.

Back when James Beattie was just a twinkle in the eye of a Hair Product salesmans dreams, Saints lost the 1902 cup final to Sheffield United and many Saints supporters of an older generation are demanding retribution for what they see as a massive injustice.

After a 1-1 draw in the first game at Crystal Palace that saw some trouble in the road where the Stage Coaches were parked, the replay saw Saints fall behind after only two minutes when Robinson in the Saints goal slipped.

Brown equalised in the second half for Saints and they then put their Northern opponents, clearly struggling in the heat of a Southern spring that at 8 degrees was a lot warmer than they were used to.

But Robinson was having a personal nightmare and six minutes from time he made another costly error and Barnes walked the ball into an empty net.

He then incensed Saints supporters by accepting the brisk handshakes of his teamates in a manner that was quite frankly over the top for the era, indeed several of them also patted him on the back, crowd trouble could have construed if it hadnt been for the alert thinking of a Bobbie who with a curt "Whats going on ere then" calmed the situation.

Six minutes later and the Cup was United's.

Saints Supporter Seth Blenkinsop in an exclusive interview for TUI said,

" It was a right two and eight and thats the truth, Robinson was clearly impeded and we should have had the game sewn up by then and no mistaking"

"We have waited 105 years for revenge and Ill be up at Bramall Lane to see our lads get it"

Sheffield United fan Arkwright Balderdash commented

"EEEE we deserved t' cup, those Southampton boys didnt take it too kindly though and were reet unfriendly on way back t' station, a group of them gave us good clogging oop by Norwood, dressed like Toffs they were, none of this cloth cap and clogs for them, they didnt even have club mufflers on, they had hobnail boots with three stripes down t' side and Stone Island Waistcoats, some of them didnt even have t' short back and sides but fringes like girls, we'd never seen owt like it"
