Over To You Robbie - Rotherham Preview

Rotherham v Swansea - Match Preview

Why not visit our sponsors lounge

Roberto Martinez takes charge of his first match as Swans manager tonight, and a vital one it is. The Swans must get the 3 points from our trip to bottom club Rotherham Utd to keep us in the play-off hunt.

I've been bemused by the negativity from some of our fans lately. A lot of them are saying our season is over and we should be building for next season. Just how they can say this when we are 5 points off the play-offs (possibly 2 if we win tonight) astonishes me. Thing's can change quickly in football. A win tonight and a victory at home to Orient and thing's will look a lot different. The positive vibes will return and we'll be right back in the pack. This week we have 2 very winnable games and I think it could be the start of a very positive finish to the season, especially with Martinez taking the reigns, it should give everyone a boost.

The Opposition - Rotherham Utd

Rotherham are currently bottom of League 1 and are long odds on to be relegated. They were always up against it from the start after being deducted 10 points for going into administration. Despite this handicap though Rotherham started the season really well, and up until December not only did they look as if they'd avoid relegation, but a challenge for the play-offs look highly likely. However it's been all down hill since. In 13 games since Dec 9th, Rotherham haven't won any, and have lost 9 of them. Recent form reads 6 defeats from 7 matches. They are currently 13 points from safety. Their cause hasn't been helped by the sale of star striker Will Hoskins to Watford. It's not co-incidence that their dip in form started around the time he left.

TEAM NEWS

Rotherham midfielder Eugen Bopp is out with an an ankle injury and defender Pablo Mills has a calf problem. Michael Keane, Colin Murdock and Gregor Robertson are also out but Paul Hurst is fit and on-loan Norwich striker Ian Henderson is back after a ban.

The Swans will give late fitness tests to Kevin Austin and Kristian O'Leary. Defensive duo Izzy Iriekpen and Richard Duffy are out, as are Darren Pratley, Adebayo Akinfenwa, Darren Way, Garry Monk, Steve Watt and Owain Tudur Jones.

ONE TO WATCH

I'm not doing a 'one to watch' this week, because apart from once, every week I've done a preview the 'one to watch' has scored against us!

VERDICT

The Swans will win this one, resulting in a decent crowd on Saturday for Robbie's home coming. We will then beat a dire Orient side and we'll be back in the Play-Offs, we'll be back on a high, everyone will be positive again, and we'll go on one hell of a run until the end of the season, which will finish with the Swans winning the Play-Off final and promotion to the Championship.

Football's such an easy game ;)
