Former Swansea man Sam Ricketts believes the Swans have what it takes to beat Fulham on Tuesday

Ricketts spent a couple of seasons at Swansea City before leaving shortly after the play off final for Hull who are now enjoying themselves in the Premier League.

And having seen his new team mates fall to the Swans earlier this season in the Carling Cup, he is backing them to add another shock to a growing list when they head to Fulham on Tuesday for their 5th Round replay.

And should the Swans succeed they will get the chance to pit their wits against the biggest of all with Manchester United on March 7th the prize for the winners.

Speaking to Wales on Sunday, Ricketts said “I watched the game with Fulham the other day and they did really well.

“And they were so unlucky not to actually win the game after they hit a post and conceded a fluke goal.

“But they will go to Fulham and they won’t hold back because they will be full of confidence.

“They have the knowledge that if they play at their best they have a great chance of going through.

“They know it will be a battle but they’ve shown they play so well to their strengths and have been very successful with it.

“People have talked about how Hull have come up through the leagues.

“Well, Swansea have a few players who were there with me in League Two, and there’s no reason that they couldn’t do the same if they keep playing as well as they do as a unit.

“It’s surprised me a little bit the way they’ve dominated games so much.

“It’s a tough league where it could have been difficult to utilise their passing game.

“But they’ve done it and done it well. It’s great to see and good for football that it’s working.

“He (Garry Monk) was so unlucky with that but there was nothing he could do about it.

“Garry will know that. He’s been outstanding and hopefully he can carry that through on Tuesday.”
