Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has insisted that the club won't break the bank to keep Leon Britton

The midfielder, who was the subject of a bid from Wigan in January, is out of contract in the summer and according to Jenkins has received a final extension offer.

"We've made Leon an offer - and it's our final offer," Jenkins told the News of the World.

"We won't up it at the end of the season. We've made him a good offer, now it's down to him whether he accepts it or not.

"There's a wage structure at the club and we're not going to break it.

"We'd like Leon to stay but we're not going to get ourselves into trouble by spending money we haven't got.

Britton last month claimed there was a 'massive chance' that his future remained at the Liberty Stadium, but with his deal running down, it would be a surprise if the new contract was signed.

"Leon is fully aware of our point of view," Jenkins explained.

"If he goes there will be no bad feeling about it."
