Could Be Lowest Crowd
Could Be Lowest Crowd

Saints need a big walk up tonight to ensure that it sint the lowest crowd of the season so far.

Saints support has been brilliant so far this season with the average home gate in league matches now topping 20,000, however that number could dip if there isnt a big walk up before tonights game against Wycombe Wanderers.

At time of writing it looks like Saints might struggle to even beat the previous worst gate, the 17,070 that saw the Colchester game.

Now there are some that would say that 17k is a great crowd in this division and they would be right, but they are usually the very same people who also claim that Saints arent a League 1 club, that being the case if we consider ourselves above League 1 then we have to get the winning mentality on and off the pitch and for the supporters that means turning up in big numbers at home and making a lot of noise.

OK Wycombe are, with due respect one of our least attractive opposition of the season and it is a cold December night with Xmas approaching, but those are the only excuses, Saints fans have seen some great games at SMS so far, out of the 9 league games so far they have cheered 16 goals by Saints and been dismayed at 12 by the opposition, an average of over 3 goals peer game, no one can say thats not entertaining.

Add to that the fact that Saints need to keep winning to put in a realistic charge for promotion and the fans need to play a big part in that.

So come on Saints supporters make an effort tonight and make sure that our average crowd keeps going in the right direction, its above pompey at present and we want to keep it that way.
