Former midfielder diagnosed with cancer for the second time. More information online now

Former Rochdale AFC and Oldham Athletic midfielder Ernie Cooksey has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time. 

The hard working midfielder was a cause of much debate back when he played here with their being a big divide over who should start between Ernie and John Doolan.

Ernie was signed by Steve Parkin and was one of my favourite players in the last few years.

Despite his lacking of height he would always win every header and I'll always remember taunting Jamie Tolley as he was subsituted off with the song of "You're only running from the Ernie!"

I think it would pretty safe to say that many shared the same opinion of him, until he found himself playing out of his natural position on the left wing.
