Saints At Yeovil The Preview

Saints need more of the same at Huish Park on Tuesday night.

Of course the first "more of the same" would be another away win as our trip to South Yorkshire on Saturday, the second would be the victory we acheived with that last gasp Lee Barnard goal at Yeovil back in April, but third and perhaps most importantly would be the more of the same we started in October of last year when we won four straight league games to kick start our season and if we are to do the same this we have to start to put together a run of similar magnitude.

The green shoots of recovery were there for all to see at Hillsborough when we took advantage of a team struggling like ourselves and Yeovil play us on the back of three straight league defeats themselves so are there for the taking.

Like last term we now need to get our heads down and just wrack up the wins, however unlike back then those wins wont still see us in the bottom 4 but would push us into the promotion run in, we only have ourselves to fear, whilst in some areas ie up front the squad isnt as strong as last year, in others its better and our problem hassnt been we have been meeting better sides, its been we have not been playing to our potential, start doing that as we did on Saturday and the wins will come thick and fast.

Thats not to say we should be complacent, we have to beat teams and Yeovil will be as difficult to overcome as anyone as we found last year when we only just scraped home, but when you look at the players that did not start or played only a small part at the weekend, Fonte, Richardson, Martin, Connolly, Holmes Lallana, Mills, Dickson, even Paul Wotton & Oscar Gobern, not to metion Guly, all of whom would get into most sides in this league and it emphasises that we can not only put out one side, but a second that could more than hold its own, so we now have to start doing the business.

Im sure that Adkins with that win under his belt will feel a lot happier and will now be starting to know a little more about the squad and can impose himself on it and that cant be bad.

A win will take us up the league and start to make other sides sit up and take notice, Bournemouth for one who prior to Tuesdays game sit six points above us in third, two straight wins for us could put us on the same points if they lose at home to Exeter, its all ifs and buts, but it does show that we are within touching distance.
