The Sunday papers report that the Swans are ready to smash their transfer record with a £1.5m purchase of Jordi Gomez
The fee would far eclipse the record purchase of Ashley Williams last summer but be a massive boost for the Swans if they could secure the man who has become hot property thanks to his year in South Wales.
Gomez has struck 14 goals on his season long loan spell at the Liberty and that has attracted interest from top flight clubs in both England and Scotland.
Couple that with the fact that Espanyol can also retain his services for next season and grabbing the signature of the Spaniard would be a massive coup for the Swans.
The paper reports that "the Swans boss has urged the board to rubber stamp the £1.5m bid for the 23 year old Catalan with £750,000 up front and the rest payable if certain targets are met"
A Swans insider told News of the World "Roberto spoke to the board last week and he recommended a £1.5m offer for Jordi.
"It's a lot of money but that's what they've got to pay if they are to have any chance of keeping him. This is the level we are at now.
"The club will offer an initial £750,000 with the rest payable later on."
