Create A Wall Of Noise For Pompey

Keep the Orchestra Cortese together.

Nicola Cortese has spoken in recent days about how he considers the Northam End to be the Club's Orchestra, but the problem is that for the Porstmouth FA Cup game the Orchestra is seeing some of its seats taken by the away allocation.

Those being displaced now have to choose where they are going to sit, at a meeting with him this week, Cortese mentioned that the one thing that surprised him about the Saints support was where the vocal section was situated, he expected it to be in the Chapel End, his experience of football in England was of course seeing some of the big clubs and at those grounds the singers have usually been at the opposite end to the away fans, the Kop at Anflied being an obvious example.

However he was impressed by the support from the Northam End and the noise generated and he stressed the importance of keeping this vocal hardcore together and in one place, especially for the game against Pompey.

So the Orchestra Cortese is obviously not the Berlin Philharmonic, it wont be conducted on the day by Sir Simon Rattle, however orchestra's are in one place to create that wall of sound, hopefully the Northam will stick together.

This of course makes sense and for this game its vital that we have the loudest support we can get, this being the case it would suggest that the displaced Northam Enders migrate to the Kingsland wing, right next door to the Northam, to join with the one remaining Northam block, this would keep the Northam choir intact.

Not only that but as has been shown in the JPT games when areas in the ground have been closed, when the corner section is full and attached to the Northam Choir, it generally extends the singing a lot further into the Kingsland as those who would normally be a little too far detached from the Northam to join in are sucked into the atmosphere.

If the bulk of the displaced Northam enders move into the Kingsland for this game it could create a wall of sound that reverberates from the Northam corner right along the Kingsland and ignites the whole ground.

Of course their will be some who feel that they would prefer to go over to the Itchen Corner and taunt the Pompey fans, I can see why they would want to do this, but in truth staring at the away section for most of the game and singing anti Pompey fans will not help generate an atmosphere and supporting Saints rather than hating Pompey should be the main objective of this game.
