Saints forthcoming fixture with Liverpool will now move to Sunday 20th March due to Europa League commitments for the visitors.
Liverpool's win over Augsburg in the Europa League means that their visit to St Mary's will now be put back a day to Sunday 20th March with a 1.30pm kick off as the Merseyside Club will be in Europa League action on Thursday 17th March.
With Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur also joining Liverpool in the last 16 of the Europa League it has to be good news for Saints as it means that both clubs now have at least an extra two fixtures this season and as they get closer to the final of the Europa League they will be less likely to play weakened teams in the competition.
That has to be good for Saints who will be looking to finish ahead of United and Liverpool and qualify for the Europa League themselves again next season.
That being the case any diversion from the Premier League can only help Saints.
