Which Liverpool Will Turn Up On Sunday ?

The big question for Saints supporters will be what Liverpool side will turn up, on their day they can be scintillating but on others woeful.

After Liverpool's draw at Old Trafford last night which saw them eliminate Manchester United from the Europa League the question on most Saints fans lips will be just which Liverpool side will turn up at St Mary's ?

It cannot be denied that the Red's have some decent players, but they lack in other areas and too often rely on the likes of Daniel Sturridge or Coutino to get them out of trouble.

Their two ties against United revealed both sides of their team, at Anfield last week they were superb and really should have scored more than the two that they did, but last night in the return leg they showed both sides of their game.

In the first half they spent most of it on the back foot and they did not look comfortable on the ball, in goal Mignolet looked hesitant and their central defenders are not as composed as Jurgen Klopp would like them to be, they could have easily have been two goals down before they eventually conceded to a penalty.

At that point the tie had swung in United's favour, they had an hour to get a second goal and it dd not look beyond them, however Liverpool did look dangerous on the counter attack and could have equalised before Phllipe Coutinho did so on the stroke of half time.

That goal really gave them the breathing space the needed, but United still set about Liverpool and could have easily have got a goal that would have had the nerves jangling, at this point there were two Liverpool sides on the pitch, one that looks dodgy defensively and continuously gives the ball away in dangerous areas and cannot clear its lines and one that counter attacks with pace and danger.

So which one will turn up at St Mary's ?

The truth is no one knows not even Liverpool fans, when they destroyed us in the Capital One Cup, they were above us in the League with 28 points from 14 games, now they have 44 from 28 games, that illustrates that they are not a consistent team.

So could Saints benefit from their result at Old Trafford on one hand it could see them on a high that they continue at St Mary's, but on the other it could be a case of after the Lord Mayor's show and they might find it hard to get themselves motivated.

Saints will hope it's the latter, that their results in the Premier League show that this is not now their priority and that the Europa League and it's Champions League place is of more importance.

What could be to Saints advantage is that many of their squad know they are surplus to requirements and that in the summer there will be a clear out and they will be moved on, that could lead to a lack of motivation in what they see as the bread and butter games of the league.

Liverpool seem able to raise themselves for the big games, but not the lesser ones and Saints have to take advantage.

We know that defensively they are not all that good, we have to take advantage of that and harass them into mistakes, we also know they counter attack well, we have to cut out that threat, Daniel Sturridge is key to them, when he plays the likes of Coutinho and Lallana have an outlet for their little tippy toes dribbling, when he doesn't play too often they are left with no one to pass too and there effect is minimal apart from a few good runs deep in their own half of the midfield.

So which Liverpool team will turn up is the question ? that we will find out on Sunday, but the key is that Saints need to help them decide which team has run out on the pitch by not giving them time and harrasing them into mistakes that will ave Jurgen Klopp tearing his hair out.
