So after Skapetis, Shariff, Magri, Carreiro, Fitzpatrick & Monthe have all been relased, now 4 U21's have been offered 1 year extensions - Lumley, Gibbon, Sendles-White & Andrade. (See Offish)
Which by my reckoning leaves Harriman, Sutherland, Hitchcock, Balanta, Brown & Laurent with contracts sets to expire next months and no news whether they will be released as well or offered new deals ?
Particularly surprising for the first 3 IMO.
I suspect Dellatorre will be sent home too.

Never really understood why Harriman hasn't been our back RB this season, i would deffo give him another year assuming we don't go up and maybe even if we do.
Sutherland is always spoken of highly, but is coming back from a major injury and i've heard Laurent has done OK on loan in the conference. | | | |

I've been very happy with Simpson - very consistant and one of our better buys. But I would certainly have kept Harriman as backup.
I can understand why we might wait to see how well Sutherland recovers, but Hitchcock & Harriman still surprise me.
As for Balanta, I've been surprised on a yearly basis for the last 4 seasons how he's still hanging around. I wonder what he's got on the Club ? | | | |

Missing the crucial word 'back up' in my comment, think Harriman should have been our reserve right back and watching Hughes play there hasn't changed my mind on that!
I don't think any of the rest are likely good enough, actually surprised that Andrade got another year as i've seen him play a few times and he looks no more than a League Two player at best. | | | |

He should have had a recall clause and been back playing while Simpson was injured. This season has been a real missed opportunity as far as giving younger players 1st team experience. | |

I guess they thought if he didn't get injured it was a waste having Harriman in the reserves when we had Onoura to cover as well. Would agree it would have been good to see a few come though this year but not sure any of them are good enough sadly | | | |

I'm not surprised at those released. There's no point in keeping 20 year olds who aren't going to be good enough

With regard to Harriman and Hitchcock, I don't think either of them have been outstanding in League 1, although they have had some highlights. Both, I believe, have not been automatic choices.
So the club will probably be hesitant to offer them a new contract if they aren't reasonably convinced they have a future with us in the higher divisions. | | | |
