It's been so sad to see the tragedy unfold this week with the actual cause for the crash appearng to be due to human error although the final details and enquiry are yet to be confirmed. It's been shocking to see so much coverage of the team, with powerful photos of them boarding the plane, instagram updates from the players whilst on the plane and then so many stories of the players, both on the flight and those left at home, from the player who stayed at home to celebrate his birthday to the son of the manager of the club who forgot his passpot so couldn't make the flight being just a couple of examples.

And today they had the final farewell with the bodies of the players, 19 in total, being carried in coffins into the stadium. Such concentrated emotion and just so fcúkin sad. 19 players, the owner and the manager, 16 backroom and support staff, 8 directors, 3 guests and 20 journalists died in the crash.

The club, which was dubbed the Brazilian Leicester due to recent success, not to mention getting to the Final in which they were due to be play in, has received a lot of support in varying forms from around the world. All Brazilian "Premier" league clubs have offered one player for free for the next season, Ronaldinho and Riquelme have offered to come out of retirement to play for the club. Ronaldo has offered a substantial amount of money and the Brazilian FA are looking into assuring that the club are exempt from relegation for the next 3 seasons.

All great gestures but when you see the numbers and the sadness and tragic loss all concentrated in one football club it's going to take an unbelievable amount of strength, compasion and love to get over this tragic event.

RIP to all those who lost their lives and thoughts with all those affected.

A bit premature to be casting blame but early reports aren't good....

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/02/colombia-plane-crash-pilot-brazil-

"A copy of the flight plan has been circulated widely in Brazil, showing that the estimated time of the journey and the plane’s total range were the same — four hours and 22 minutes — leaving no time for any delays. As the flight neared its destination late on Monday, another flight with problems jumped in front of the team’s plane, leaving it circling while its fuel ran out."

And...

"On Friday Brazil’s Estado de S Paulo newspaper reported that the same British Aerospace-built plane had flown four other trips at the limit of its fuel capacity.

"Another Brazilian pilot, Evandro Garcia also pointed the finger at the Bolivian civil aviation authorities, who he said were more lax than other South American countries."

According to several reports the pilot was one of 3 shareholders in the company running that flight. That company had 3 planes, two of which are currently being repaired. If an "emergency" is reported and subsequently found out to not have been an emergency there is a $25.000 fine plus the possibilty of losing your licence.

The pilot was warned at the airport from where the plane took off that he did not have the required 30 minute fuel surplus. Due to the flight being delayed, a planned stop off for refuelling did not take place because the airport to have been used was closed as it was now night time and the airport in question closed at night time. An additional option of refuelling at an airport on the Bolivian/Colombian border was not taken. In the leaked recordings of the final transmissions between the pilot and the control tower only at the very end of the communication did he mention a fuel issue and not once during the several minutes beforehand.

As you said the early reports, theories and subsequent assumptions do not look good.
