Urgent tech help needed 21:06 - Mar 2 with 2032 viewsRangersDave

Hi everyone,
Urgent help needed if your able?

My partners daughter has saved 12 files on a memory stick that has become corrupted.

We told her that she should back up, but she decided, as young girls and boys do to ignore us and simply save them to the stick and not the computer.

This has ALL her course work for university and it has to be in on Wednesday, so i am after a free cheap and very easy to use recover program please?

I cant even drag and drop the files to my lap top or hers as they are corrupted and windows 10 wont let me do it.

Any help gratefully received, and obviously its quite urgent.
cheers
Dave

you could try the options suggested for windows 10 on the results page below

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+recover+corrupted+files+from+usb+flash+dr

dropping it into a local pc repair shop might be the best idea

can you see the files on the flashdrive but cant use them or does it not show the files at all?

I used this a little while back to recover a load of files from an external hard drive that became corrupted:
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download

It has some fairly comprehensive online documentation as well
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk plus there's YouTube vids as well.

It's a reasonably advanced tool so probably some decent IT knowledge is needed as it uses a command line interface so if you've used that before you'll be fine.

This is another free tool that I've heard good things about

I love you guys, i really do!!!

Not in a 'trying to take a hot crumpet from behind without blubbing' type of way, but as my extended family.

Thanks to you i have gotten my partners daughters files back, and she's stopped crying. She was really devastated, and now knows more about back-ups, the cloud, and external hard drives than she did 2 hours ago.

Cheers lads.

Some good advise on recovery here, i’ll save those links!

I was told you’re only truly backed up if you have them all in at least three places ; computer, external hard drive, cloud.

I have a 2tb external hard drives with movies, a 2tb hard drive with music and a 1tb hard drive with documents and photos.

I then have another 2tb WD Cloud hard drive at home connected to the internet meaning I can back up anything from my phone or tablet wherever I am, as long as I have connection of course.
