I come across old stuff from time to time.

It's a shame that it all gets lost as they go down the board.

Here's a thread to keep historical thinks of Blackpool, and other places, in one place.

1994 BBC Documentary:

You can tell it was really grim in the past, couldn't even afford coloured light bulbs.

One for Spud.

I've no idea what it is by the way.

Just seen that photo from Nov 2nd that looks like something from a rubbish `War of the Worlds` film.

Don`t know what it is, but I`d like one in the garden...

It's from Fleetwood.

It looks like that building that's on top of the mount.

Seen that pic before, think it's of a lighthouse, can't remember where though.

Yes, it`s Wyre Light in the channel at Fleetwood.

When I used to go out on with my grandad on the Wyre Angler as a kid, he used to let me steer it back, and to get pick up the channel you had to line up Wyre Light and the lighthouse on the quay, as I remember...

That reads like it's straight out of a Dicken's novel, Spud

Yep, funny that; I should have mentioned my grandad was called Captain Cuttle!

There was nothing more "Dickensian" than a wet Sunday afternoon in winter in the early 70`s whilst at your grandparents in Fleetwood.

A Dickens adaptation was actually usually on BBC1 just before `Songs of Praise` on the black and white television.

Grim days indeed...

Songs of Praise, the Sunday morning god slot.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was still running.

I thought it was on in the evening with Harry Secombe, but you may be right.

To be honest it isn`t a pleasant memory and I may have been in a self-induced coma to get me through the day...

It's had different time slots over the years, still going strong.

Yes the evening possibly.

There were programmes like that on in the morning though. Even one on each channel.
