My choices were The JoshuaTree - U2 Stone Roses Automatic for the People - REM Gorillaz - Plastic Beach Radiohead - In Rainbows.

Hard to call the perfect album but Dark Side would be it. The Cult got close during Love/Sonic Temple. The Stone Roses was brilliant but a one-off (although the Second Coming grew on me). Not an album aad such but the Blues Brothers OST is like a Stax Records Dream Team.
I'm feeling the funk today though so has to be Blood Sugar Sex Magic.
Shock horror this is not ambient death thrash or Ukranian prog, it's indie!

There are so many albums I am close to nominating for this dating back to he early sixties but I am going to plump for Costello Music by The Fratellis which, IMO, has only one weak track (Doginabag) and all the rest are bangers.
Tempting to write them off as a stadium band who've sold out to suck sackfuls of salty dollars from Warner's crusty commercial còck and if I'd never seen the chilli peppers at the Garage I'd be tempted to agree with him, but fùck me can they do a gig. The graft and passion were like a band starting out and the talent and accomplishment moving I tell thee.
I’ve never been one for albums. If pushed I’d be going OASIS, Stone Roses or..... wait for it... Madness However my altar sits in the electronic area in the broad(ish) church of my music taste hence I’m a man for 12 inches (ahem)
My answer is therefore an album that did a lot for me on the lost years It brought me down from some proper places I found myself in the early 90’s It grounded me in stressful exam periods It is simply captivating It still makes me smile Not for everyone but fair play to you Bill, ahead of your time mate....

Can't argue with that but I'd have stuck "Oh Well" in there purely for the guitar intro alone which is in my opinion in the top three of guitar into's ever. "Need Your Love So Bad" Gorgeous guitar work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yeah I guess 'Dragonfly' is the obvious song to omit for 'Oh well'. Trouble is that when I listen to the album in full 'Dragonfly' is my favourite part, even if it's far from being the best song.
The original was to me a great album but the Original Memphis mix version released last year trancends greatness for me it has so much soul. sometimes less is so much more.
I have Dark Side currently playing in the car and I was only thinking yesterday how fresh it still is. I bought it in '73 when it came out and have never tired of listening to it.
