I wonder what happened.

Up until the Fleetwood / Sunderland game we were singing his man management praises.

From the start, I was in the camp of giving him or anyone at least a season but I didn't think at the time that things would get as bad as they are.

I'm not surprised at all with the news though.

I'm sure there are those within the club who knew what was going wrong and acted accordingly.

Last night team, same as Saturday's, so only one permanent signing (Madine) started from Grayson's time in charge and was subbed both times after 60 mins. 5 loans started both matches. If all the loans go back to their clubs in the summer, the only centre backs on the books would be Edwards and maybe Thorniley..

Add that to the poor results, poor tactics, strange formations and some bizarre substitutions over the past 12 games, and the drop in attendances, would you have trusted Larry in another transfer window?

Whatever his technical mistakes I simply think he didn’t care enough this time round. If your manager doesn’t have the killer instinct or even just moderate drive then you’ve no chance.

Getting the feeling this might have been decided a few weeks ago.

I favour Lala's opinion about him having lost his passion.

That's a good point.

Pure speculation on my part.

Our bad run started not long after Mansford was appointed.

There could have been friction between the two causing our terrible run of form.

A power struggle type thing.

It's only a conspiracy theory.

Heckingbottom's odds are getting even shorter.

Now 1-3 on.

Evo way back in second at 4-1.

Nathan Jones in 3rd place not even making up the numbers at 16-1:

Blackpool have sacked manager Simon Grayson after seven months in charge following a run of only one win in 12 games in all competitions.

The 50-year-old returned to Bloomfield Road in July 2019, having previously led the Tangerines to promotion into the Championship in 2007.

Their slide in form has seen them drop to 15th in League One, having been fourth in mid-December.

No details of a caretaker management team have yet been confirmed.

"The club would like to thank Simon for his efforts during his time back at Bloomfield Road and wish him well for the future," Blackpool said in their statement.

"A further announcement will follow in due course."

When Grayson was re-appointed by Blackpool for a second spell as manager, owner Simon Sadlier talked of his "track record" and previous success, and for the first part of the season his mission to guide them to promotion was on course.

Following a 1-1 draw with Sunderland on 14 December, the Seasiders had 33 points, with eight wins and just three defeats in the league.

However, the accruing of just four points from a possible 27 since then and a lack of goals from other players to complement Armand Gnanduillet, who has 18, have contributed to their decline.

They are now 13 points outside the top six, with just 15 games remaining.

Odds on Nathan Jones have shortened in the latest betting:

Paul Heckingbottom: 8/11
Nathan Jones: 3/1
Ian Evatt: 7/2

Heckingbottom's odds lengthening (2-1)

Jones' shortening (5-2)

I'd say that Dunn is in pole position as a caretaker who completes 10 games in charge is counted as a permanent manager.
