Convincing Victory For Youth Team 10:21 - Feb 24 with 50 viewsBringBackTheRedRoom

Under-18s Beat Accrington Stanley 6-0

Tony Weston and Nana Adarkwa both scored braces, as the youth team ran out 6-0 winners against Accrington Stanley.

The pair helped Danny Ventre’s side to record a convincing victory at Myerscough College, with the other two efforts credited as own goals.

Blackpool went into the game looking to right the wrongs of Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat away to Stanley, and it didn’t take long for them to get the ball rolling.

After a few half chances, a long ball over the top of the Accrington defence by Aaron Turner was picked up by Adarkwa, he lifted the ball over his man and into the path of Matthew Kardacz, who turned the ball into his own net.

Moments later, Adarkwa’s determination allowed him to get on the scoresheet. Kardacz failed to clear his lines, allowing Adarkwa to make a challenge and get a free run on-goal. He sent the ‘keeper the wrong way and slotted into the bottom corner.

Accrington instantly looked for a reply. A cross into the Pool box was headed away by Harry Winstanley, but only to Kevin Spinelli, who set himself and volleyed towards goal, however Alec McLachlan saw the ball sail over the bar.

Blackpool then scored a third. Great trickery out wide from Rob Apter allowed him to lose his man and cross towards Weston in the area, who brought the ball down and slid it under Jack Buckley for his first of the afternoon.

After the break, the Seasiders continued the scoring. Adarkwa fed Weston through on goal, only for him to be met by the on-rushing Buckley, who cleared straight into the path of Adarkwa, giving him a simple opportunity to pass the ball into the back of the net.

Four wasn’t enough though, as another own goal put the game beyond doubt. Ryley Smith played a defence splitting pass towards Weston and before reaching the ball, a mistake from a Stanley man saw the ball end up in the back of the net.

Ventre’s side were relentless and soon made it six. This time, McLachlan pumped the ball up field, deep into the Stanley half, Weston pounced and raced through on-goal, slotting past Buckley to round off the scoring.
