Boris Johnson (criticising Care Homes): "Too many Care Homes didn`t follow the correct procedures..."

Quick clarification from No.10 spokesperson: "The PM was pointing out that nobody knew what the correct procedures were..."

The second statement is as incriminating, as the first one is disingenuous.

Looks like the clapping is over, and the finger pointing is beginning.

Are there any positives to this government, apart from Rishi Sunak?

There is very little "quality" amongst members of parliament these days. If Labour could have fielded a few they would have their biggest majority right now. Incompetent Tories and a majority says it all.

The Labour party has to wake up and make sure this never happens again.

Well here's hoping .

Whilst I agree there are plenty of mediocre parliamentarians at the moment Imp, I suspect it would have taken more than fielding a `few` good Labour MPs to turn their big election defeat into their biggest majority. Corbyn`s persona was toxic to voters regardless of who sat alongside or behind him.

This government is deeply worrying on many levels; Johnson on all levels.

Johnson is not a politician but an act. An act that conceals a blinding lack of attention to detail, a ruthless ambition coupled with thoughtless indiscretion, and a mendacity that is often breath taking.

His whole career has been a litany of self serving, shape-shifting, disingenuity whilst parading as a jester.

As a good friend of Johnson`s said: "The only certain thing about Boris is that he will let you down".

But, hey ho, we are where we are...

If people voted for the best candidate in their constituency, instead of voting just on party lines or who sells the best spin, there's a chance the quality of MPs might improve.

Bojo and the way Cumming's machine works, is now looking more Trumpesque by the day.

They really needed people like Clarke, Rudd, Hammond etc... in this Government over the last few weeks, but they got kicked out of the party and we've been left with a bunch of ministers totally out of their depth. Spend 5 years plotting against the previous administrations, then no idea how to use the power they wanted. Even Theresa May has had a few subtle digs from the back benches.

Sunak's big test comes in the Autumn, when deciding how to start paying the bill. He has lots of options of how to do it, but that quote of his (an George Osborne special) "we're all in this together" might come back and bite him.

‘Where there is harmony, may we bring discord. Where there is truth, may we bring error. Where there is faith, may we bring doubt. And where there is hope, may we bring despair’
