Four hours now. Spectacular storm, so much lightning.

We've not had one yet this summer.

It's bound to happen, sooner or later, though.

All the same, 4 hours is a fair old storm.

Any damage? Consequences?

These are the Lancashire roads closed due to flooding this morning

Many will be waking up to flooding in Lancashire this morning, following stormy weather overnight.

Roads across the county have been closed due to localised flooding, with some transport services also affected.

Train services between Morecambe and Lancaster are delayed after lightning damaged the signalling system between overnight.

As a result, buses will be replacing trains between these stations until around 11am, said Northern.

Kirkham and Freckleton appear to have had the worst of the flooding, with policing having to shut the exit slip road at junction 3 of the M55 due to surface water.

In Kirkham, residents have reported waking up to find their cars soaked inside and flood water reaching their homes.

These are the confirmed road closures this morning:

- A585 Fleetwood Road, Thistleton - Both ways blocked, slow traffic due to flooding from Thistleton Road to M55 J3 (Kirkham). Travel time is around 15 minutes. Severe rain overnight has caused sudden flooding and a number of vehicles are stuck, affecting traffic between the Windy Harbour Traffic Lights and the M55.

- A584 Lytham Road - Both ways blocked, slow traffic due to flooding between West End Lane and Lodge Lane. Traffic is slow due to surface water along this stretch.

- Lentworth Drive Scotforth, Lancaster - Both ways blocked due to flooding from Barton Road to Hala Square. Diversion in place for bus service 100.

- Lawson Road, Thornton - Road inaccessible due to severe flooding, both ways blocked.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Many will be waking up to flooding across Lancashire. Take extra care on the roads as puddles maybe deeper than they appear and road markings unidentifiable."

Same again from 2am allegedly. My Cat really hated it, and made sure I knew it.

Overnight storms cause Lancashire flooding and road closures

Fire crews were called out to more than 30 reports of flooding in Lancashire following storms overnight.

Lancaster, Warton, Kirkham, Hesketh Bank and Tarleton were among the areas affected.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said it received more than 60 calls and urged motorists not to drive through flood water.

A spokesman said plans were under way to prepare for more storms expected on Tuesday evening.

"In Lancaster, Burrow Beck has flooded around Lentworth Drive and Cranwell Avenue, and a number of properties have been affected," he said

"As a result, we are working with Lancaster City Council and Lancashire County Council to open a rest centre in Scotforth for those residents whose properties have been affected.

"There are a number of road closures in place because of the flooding and we ask people not to drive through flood water."

The area around Burrow Beck flooded for the second time in a week, though homes did not need to be evacuated.

Lightning also damaged the rail signalling system between Preston and Lancaster, causing delays and cancellations on some trains.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms covering most of the UK until Thursday night.

The wind's just really started to pick up here.

We could have a biggie on the way.

In the end a strong wind quickly kicked up and we had a bit of rainfall.

The storm was in the distance.

There's one of those things - If you see lightening a long way off, you count how many seconds pass before you hear the thunder. You then know how far away the storm is.

Of course, I've forgotten what the tip is - Each second before hearing the thunder = how many miles?

Another very warm night here, but no Thunder and Lightning that I was aware of.

Think it's five seconds for one mile.

East coast fine so far.

It's supposed to be arriving here at bedtime tonight. And then we have five days of more or constant rain to look forward to.

Incidentally, for all your cricket fans, the forecast for Southampton is similar. The Test Match may not amount to much.

Icon? It's all Rio Ferdinand's fault.

This year's cricket season's continuing into October.

Good luck with that.

As for the east coast, the problem there isn't storms but coastal erosion.

We could see Imp falling off into the sea.

I've not googed it but 5 seconds for 1 mile seems a lot for "seeing lightening / hearing thunder" thing.

It's all to do with the speed of sound and that.

More like 1 second = 1 mile.

Might be a blessing if the test is called off. England's batting line up looks very brittle.

Going to get cocky here, but the speed of sound is about 350 metres per second. 760ish mile an hour. (Lost youth collecting Top Trump cards).

Concorde and all that.

A beautiful plane. We haven't seen the like of it since.

I hope we get a more environmentally friendly version of it that can perform to the same standard.

Loved Concorde, once flew over my primary school. Remember the Russian version that fell out of the sky at the Paris(?) air show.

Warm and very sticky this morning. Sky was a strange colour both last night and this morning.

A similar colour to the Lancaster kit?

Very much like the Lancaster kit, spell...

When young spud is issued with new kit, I sometimes get his cast offs - waterproof training coat, club polo shirt and such (I know it sounds a bit sad), but I wouldn`t mind that shirt. Might even buy one...
