Double Jeopardy Rule 21:39 - Aug 21 with 1075 views | BrianMcCarthy | Robbie Fugging Savage (RFS) reckoned that Carlos should have been sent off in the first half tonight for his challenge in the area. The ref rightly gave a peno. Then he booked Carlos. Isn't that correct under the Double Jeopardy Rule/Guideline? You can't issue a red and award a peno for the same offence, I thought. Pinner and others will know for sure, though.

Especially since he just made the potential Sevilla winner. Great game though, especially the first half. Just to add without trying to hijack the referee stuff - Ashley Young..hahahahahha. have that you cheating prick. [Post edited 21 Aug 2020 21:56]

Double Jeopardy Rule on 21:44 - Aug 21 with 1048 views | Match82 | I have no facts on this. And I'm not watching the game. But... I've always thought it was harsh to give a red for "preventing a clear goal scoring opportunity" if a pen was awarded (as that is obviously a clear goal scoring opportunity, therefore the player couldn't be preventing it) I'd think a red + penalty is acceptable for a different offence such as violent conduct or intentional handball on the line (hello Suarez) [Post edited 21 Aug 2020 21:45]

Double Jeopardy Rule on 22:24 - Aug 21 with 944 views | loftboy | The player has to be making a genuine effort to win the ball for it to be a yellow only, that was never an attempt to win the ball so should have walked.

Double Jeopardy Rule on 09:53 - Aug 22 with 593 views | terryb | I'm certain that when he was playing, if hts team mate had been sent off for that, be would have gone ballistic at the referee! The one thing I would say in favour of Savage, is that he doesn't change his mind just because another pundit has a contrary view.
Double Jeopardy Rule on 13:10 - Aug 22 with 455 views | PinnerPaul | Haven't seen it, but yes has to be a 'genuine attempt for the ball' For a red, don't forget it has to be denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Obviously, serious foul play in the penalty area is still a red whatever else is going on!
