Playing for Finland against Ireland at the moment.

34 gone and he's holding his own.

Edit - "holding his own".. settle down at the back, kids.

With this and his games in Scotland, well, he's still to face anyone decent though

He's got to be worth a go at this point, surely...

Poll: And it's hi ho

Speaking of holding your own, ya!

Ireland poor bad goal conceded again set pieces to Duffy seems to be the only way to score

Doesn't look out of place at this level.

Surely worth a shout for the left back or wing back position.

What was his defending like?

Poll: Warburton, What's next?

Niko on 18:58 - Sep 6 with 4409 viewsBrianMcCarthy

I thought he was ok. 6/10.

Didn't attack much, didn't defend much, as he was played as a (yes....) wing-back. And Finland played the ball up the right.

Doherty, without being great yet again, got the better of Niko's wing, and Niko was perhaps deferential. But it's all experience.

Thought he was tidy on the ball, as you say not much defending from him as he was playing up the pitch a bit more, plus a lot of what Ireland were doing was going through Connolly on the left.

Another option so we can maybe get Manning higher up the pitch instead of left back which I don't think he is.

Fair? (I didn't watch the game.)

Smiled at some strangely familiar lines in there: "But the 48-year-old, who is on record as believing in “only one style of play”, has only himself to blame..."

Chuck him in. What do we have to lose? He's playing international football and we're in the champs conceeding 3 goals per game.

Time to go 442

This is the thing he’s been with us for a long time now ( by rangers standards ! ) why has he not been given a chance yet? He must’ve been around under Ramsey , JFH , Olly , McLaren and now Warbs. They must see something in him to reward him extension after extension?

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

1

Niko on 00:15 - Sep 7 with 3747 viewsozexile

Yep throw him in, Spain have just had a 17 year old score for them. Yet we just keep giving these players contracts without really testing them.

Niko on 00:28 - Sep 7 with 3737 viewsDavieQPR

No just don't throw him on because he has done nothing to warrant it. He is a third choice, emergency left back.

Niko on 00:40 - Sep 7 with 3722 viewsozexile

But we're shipping 2 or 3 goals per match. Do we not try something else?

I'm rooting for him, because the more I see Manning at LB, the more I think he needs to be moved up the pitch. He has a ton of talent but continuously lets opponents behind him. Also, I think Wallace is strictly a backup.

If Niko ascends, then we have options for Manning.

I think we should make our mind up quicker than this. It quite simply should not take 12 years and seven loans to evaluate a player. Put him in or release.

Seemed to me that Daniel O'Shaughnessy was playing for the wrong team.

4 games, 5 conceded is NOT 2 or 3 goals per match!

He did come on in a Rs match I was at some years ago, can't remember which but think JFH was manager. Anyway he looked slight then and the oppo slung high balls at him for the entire twenty minutes. Wouldn't say it was comfortable, as I say he looked like a kid, but I was also impressed with how he stuck at it and just about coped. Good sign he has the mental fortitude. He's gone up to Scotland in the cold and sleet with no familiar faces and made an impression so I think he could be right sort. A battler.

Poll: Should JFH get the sack?

I’m sure he came on vs Fulham at their place when we won 2-1. The game with the 2 penalty misses and Sylla’s late winner.

That's right. I remember it being a fairly impressive cameo for Niko, looked a natural wing back.

Game I was at was Loftus Road, he was an injury sub and part of back 4. Think Bidwell off or something. The team we were playing went very direct.

goals conceded this season - 0, 3, 1, 1.
1.25 per game.
calm down.

Bare bones.

TBF he said that on the 7th September! No idea why it has been resurrected a month later. At the time we had conceded;

3 v Plymouth
2 v WBA
3 v Millwall
1 v Luton
3 v Wednesday

So in that context the comment wasn't as headless chicken as it is now being made out to be.
