Bannon suspended from Twitter over violent podcast

We reported earlier that Twitter had added warning flags to Trump's tweets which contain unfounded claims of electoral fraud.

Now, the social media site has also suspended the account of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

In a video posted on his Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter accounts, Bannon said Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious diseases expert, and FBI Director Christopher Wray should be executed and their heads "put on spikes" by the second Trump administration.

The video was later removed by YouTube and Facebook. A spokesman for Twitter said the account violated its terms of service, "specifically our policy on the glorification of violence".

Fauci and Trump have repeatedly had public feuds this year over the handling of the coronavirus outbreak. Addressing a Florida crowd just before the vote, Trump suggested he would fire Fauci after the election.

The US has the highest number of cases and deaths in the world, and measures to control the virus - such as masks and lockdown restrictions - are highly politicised.

Masks are coming off - Scooby Doo styly - as they always had to at this stage. It`s ok to smash the system if you`ve got a plan to rebuild it better. This lot of deplorables have smashed the system and are continuing to do so as the country turns against them. Let`s hope the Republican grandees have seen enough of Trump`s inane and self-pitying ramblings.

More popcorn please!!

The surprising part of this election is the continuing popularity of Trump with towards 50% of the electorate.

The democrats need to look at why this has happened much in the same way the labour party need to in order to make sure such an event does not occur this side of the water.

France too it seems could be one election away from their own version of this scenario.

Welcome to the politics of the future.

Actually takes a lot for a sitting President to actually lose. Carter (Iran hostages did for him) and GH Bush ("read my lips, no new taxes", then the most successful third party candidate in decades with Ross Perot did for him) being the last two.

A lot of Americans see knocking the President as a bit like having a dig at the Queen, unpatriotic, whichever way you usually vote.

Also, America doesn't have a "left" as us Europeans know it. The Democrats are, in many ways, more like the Tories under Heath in the 70's. The Republicans have sort of morphed from a right/right of centre party into a Neo-Con, Populist, Nationalist party under Trump.

Perhaps Red explains the US mentality in showing continued support for Trump.

As far as France and the UK are concerned, I'm not upto date with all the policies and political decisions but what we've been seeing are 'protest' votes.

We've had unusual, even unheard of, election results due to a general 'fed upness' of the average person who may feel as though they're doing their share of the work while their needs are being overlooked / taken for granted.

Wonder if these classics are on Trumpy's playlist?

Yep, the continued support for Trump in spite of all the lies, depravity and racism is a worrying indictment of the USA and its divisions. The fact that self-interest across many disparate groups allows them to turn a blind eye to his obvious short-comings. The pious being the worst offenders.

I think the Trump era hit an all level low when former aide Steve Bannon tweeted for Dr Anthony Fauci to be beheaded, and his head mounted "on a pike" as a warning.

And to think he was whispering his bile in Trump`s ear for a while as his special advisor...

Nope, things moving glacially slow at the moment.

It actually may look a bit of a battering for Trump in the final analysis.

Don`t mind waiting...

Georgia going to a recount, which is fair enough with it being that close.

Problem with some of these counts is that they are not just voting on the Presidential Election, but there will be a ton of other things that will be on the ballots to vote on. Remember one year, there was one county that had 28 different things to vote for on their ballot.

Need more popcorn, Trump having meltdown on Twitter.

The utter petulance of "BY A LOT!"

Brilliant!

The interview with his niece, Mary on Channel 4 News yesterday was excellent viewing. She tells you exactly what is likely to happen. *

*Spoiler alert: it ain`t good...

Surprising. isn't it?

How so many people still vote for him after all that's been said and done over the last few years.

It seems obvious to me but not everyone in the world thinks Trump's a complete womble.

Poor old Donald: got Covid, lost his job, soon to be evicted and the news today was that Melania is likely to divorce him.

A tough month...
