Festive Fundraiser 16:16 - Nov 30 with 203 viewsBringBackTheRedRoom

Blackpool Football Club, in conjunction with the Club’s Community Trust, has today launched a festive fundraiser to support the local community.

The initial objective of the campaign aims to address a startling statistic that shows at least 700-800 children of Primary School age in the town will wake up on Christmas Day without a present to open.

With your backing, we are looking to raise money to provide every Primary School child identified with a toy and a gift box to unwrap on Christmas Day.

The project is to be delivered by the Community Trust through local schools and organisations.

You can donate to this initiative by visiting the Trust’s Just Giving page — www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bfcctxmas — before Monday 14th December 2020.

Simon Sadler, Owner of Blackpool Football Club, said:

“When Ash made me aware of the stark statistic of quite how many local children would go without this Christmas, I felt that the Club and the Community Trust had a responsibility to work closely together to try to address this issue.

“To show our support for this fundraising effort, Gillian and I, along with the staff and partners of Segantii Capital Management, will look to match, pound for pound, all of your generous donations given via the Trust’s Just Giving page.

“As we see out this most testing of years, let’s all pull together to spread some festive cheer.”

Ashley Hackett, CEO of Blackpool FC Community Trust, said:

“This year has been a tough year for many in the community, and to think of local children waking up on Christmas Day to nothing is truly heart-breaking.

“Our intention is to deliver these presents to children of Primary School age thanks to your fundraising. However, we would love to be able to raise enough money to go even further and assist even more children in the town and community.”

You can't lump everyone in the same boat as there're bound to be a lot of distressing stories among the parents of the 700 - 800 who've fallen on hard times.

But, by the same token there'll also be a fair number who are either simply crappy parents or selfish druggies.

I feel sorry for the kids, it's not their fault. What chance have they got after having such an awful start in life.

It looks like some children are going to get some very nice presents.
