Rotherham and Lincoln continue to monitor 7-goal forward as Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool also circle
Rotherham United and Lincoln City both sent scouts to watch Notts County forward Ruben Rodrigues in action for the National League side against Rochdale in the FA Cup on Tuesday night, according to Nottinghamshire Live.
Rodrigues has emerged on the radar of numerous clubs this season following his impressive form for Notts County in the National League this term.
The 25-year-old has managed to fire home seven goals in his 15 league appearances this term to date and that has played a major role in establishing them amongst the teams chasing automatic promotion to the Football League.
It has already been reported that both League One dup Rotherham and Lincoln are interested in making a potential move for Rodrigues ahead of the January transfer window. While there has also been reports that Championship Blackpool are also one of the other teams that are keeping a watchful eye over the forward’s development.
According to the latest report from Nottinghamshire Live, Blackburn Rovers are also potentially interested in Rodrigues and they have also been monitoring his performances for Notts County in the National League this season.
The report from Nottinghamshire Live added that Rotherham and Lincoln have once again sent scouts to watch the forward in action for Notts County. That came with the 25-year-old playing the full 90 minutes as the National League side were beaten 2-1 at home by Rochdale in the FA Cup first round.
The verdict
You would have to say that it is reaching the stage where Notts County are going to do very well to be able to keep hold of Rodrigues during the January transfer window considering that Rotherham and Lincoln are showing such an interest in his performances at the moment.
Rodrigues looks the sort of player that has the quality to progress beyond the National League and make an impact in the Football League.
Rotherham and Lincoln will both be searching for that extra bit of quality in the winter window to help them push for automatic promotion and the play-offs respectively and the 25-year-old might be someone that can come in and help them achieve that.
Blackpool and Blackburn are also very attractive potential destinations for Rodrigues given that they could offer him the chance to leap up to Championship level. However, whether he is ready to take that big of a step up remains to be seen and it will be interesting to see if either of the Lancashire clubs firm up their interest. | |

Blackpool are in advanced talks to sign Rochdale forward Jake Beesley, Football Insider understands.
The 25-year-old has caught the eye of a number of clubs after scoring nine goals and providing two assists for the League Two outfit.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Blackpool have targeted Beesley to add to their attacking options and are now confident of securing a deal.
The Englishman has been in a rich vein of form as of late.
Beesley scooped the League Two Player of the Month award for December yesterday after netting four goals and assisting another across three games last month.
The forward is out of contract at Spotland in June 2023.
Sheffield-born Beesley started his career with Chesterfield but made just 11 appearances for the Spireites before moving to Salford City.
Once again the striker struggled for first-team action and was shipped out on loan to Boston United, Bradford Park Avenue, and Solihull Moors.
Beesley eventually penned a permanent deal with the Moors, scoring four and assisting one during a year-long spell with the West Midlands side .
A move to Rochdale followed in September 2020, and he repaid the faith of Brian Barry-Murphy with six goals and one assist in 30 games.
The striker is the Dale’s top scorer this season with nine league strikes in 21 games.
Meanwhile, Blackpool are looking to bolster their Championship credentials after creating a buffer between themselves and the drop zone.
The Lancashire side sit mid-table in the second tier and are just seven points off the playoff places.
Neil Critchley’s men are 14 points clear of the drop zone in their first season back in the Championship.

Blackpool have signed Rochdale forward Jake Beesley for a six-figure fee, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed last Saturday (8 January) that the Championship club were in advanced talks to sign the 25-year-old.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Beesley finalised his move to Blackpool over the weekend.
He completed a medical at Bloomfield Road and put pen to paper on a contract.
The transfer is set to be announced soon.

Blackpool could be set to lose star winger Josh Bowler this month to one of a number of Championship rivals, TEAMtalk understands.
The Tangerines snapped up the 22-year-old after he left Everton in the summer. He has been outstanding for Neil Critchley’s this term.
Bowler signed an initial 12-month deal but with an option for another, which Blackpool are set to take in order to protect themselves.
Even so, we understand a host of Championship clubs are looking to swoop for Bowler — who can operate on either flank.
Fulham, Blackburn, Stoke and Nottingham Forest are amongst the clubs ready to make a move.
Blackpool’s number 11 has started 16 Championship matches this season, coming on in 10 more. He has provided one goal and three assists.
Furthermore, he scored once from his only substitute appearance in the Carabao Cup, after previously starting one more game in an earlier round of that competition.
The Chertsey-born ace came through QPR’s academy before playing once for their first team. He then earned a move to Everton, who never used him but loaned him to Hull City in the 2019-20 season.
He made 28 Championship appearances in his first full taste of a second-tier season. Bowler has built up a lot more experience since leaving Everton as a free agent for Blackpool.
It remains to be seen how long he will stay at Bloomfield Road, though. All four of his other suitors in the Championship are currently in a superior league position.
Blackburn are currently second in the table, hoping to seal automatic promotion. Fulham are in the play-off places, aiming for an instant return to the Premier League.
Stoke and Forest are eighth and ninth respectively, with plenty of time to make ground on the top six.
Blackpool are having a good season themselves, sitting in mid-table. But there are clubs who could give Bowler the next platform on which to express his talents.
Earlier this month, there were reports of Blackpool rejecting a bid from Forest for Josh Bowler.
Despite this, Critchley admitted The Tangerines don’t want to sell their star performer this transfer window.
Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Critchley said: “I’m not going to confirm anything or get involved in speculation. That would be wrong.
“Silly season has started today, hasn’t it?
“You’ve only got to look at how Josh played today [on New Year’s Day against his former side Hull City] to see it didn’t affect him. Because I thought he was terrific.

Blackpool defender Daniel Gretarsson is a target of Polish side Śląsk Wrocław, according to reports.
The Icelandic international has made just two league starts for the Seasiders and may well be looking for more consistent football elsewhere.
Gretarsson's contract with the Tangerines expires in the summer, however the club hold an option to extend for a further year if they wish.
Injuries have plagued his time at Bloomfield Road so far, however he built up a commanding partnership in League One with Marvin Ekpiteta for a spell.
Speaking to Lancs Live in December, Neil Critchley praised the professional attitude of the centre half: "Daniel’s a great example to everyone in terms of his professionalism and his attitude every day.
“It’s been a difficult situation for him, we’ve had a couple of conversations, he’s been honest with me and I’ve been honest with him and he’s eager to play."
Gretarsson wasn't in the squad for Blackpool's FA Cup exit to Hartlepool despite a lack of numbers, however that is believed to be due to a positive covid test.
Options have been thin for Critchley and it left him turning to the defender to produce two professional performances when required, however his days as a first team consistent choice at Bloomfield Road look numbered.
“I can only pick eleven players, I can’t keep everyone happy but what we can do is have a level of communication and respect where we understand each other’s positions," Critchley added.
“Then I have to do my job and guarantee certain things to the players and the players have to do certain things for me and the club.
