MOVING TO THE UK? 13:46 - Nov 6 with 2043 viewscharmr

I know a few of you on here are familiar with the place. Anyone involved romantically with someone from another country.

No girlfriend but a wife with 2 cats.

Any tips?

Well, it has it's challenges and getting to know and handle the things don't work is as necessary as working out what does!

Mrs. PH and I came here in 2015 after a few years wandering, before another few years wandering saw us return permanently in 2021. Using my Irish heritage the second time made it easy for us, but there are plenty Brits, Yanks and other folks here. Ironically, getting the cat out of Myanmar in the midst of a coup to Thailand was a piece of cake compared to the monumental bureaucratic challenge it took to get him from Bangkok to here.

So, everything is possible mon ami.

Used to go to South west France . Place called Aimet near Bergerac when Our daughter was younger.
I’d move there in a shot but Mrs paddy hoops would miss her family here.
I might persuade yet .
Would suit a Gillingham fixture in the not too distant future.
Dover ain’t that far away ?

Don't touch a major city mate.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Normandy & Brittany have weather similar to southern UK. I'm based in Haute-Vienne, part of Nouvelle Aquitaine. 4.5 hours from Caen for ferries to UK. In Limoges today, at 12:00 it was 21C with clear blue skies.
Road & rail work well and health care makes NHS look poor. Food tends to be seasonal but is good quality and similar prices to UK.

Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime."
