I've seen them given, as the commentator said, but I think the ref got that one right and also the one that Saito mistimed for an actual penalty. I've also seen the one that Dunne went over for given but again two big blokes grappling to get the ball, even though Jimmy's short is pulled so again I thought the ref got that right too. | |

It was roughly in line with us, I didn’t think it was a pen for them, thought Saito planted his foot and the Blackburn player kicked Saito’s Foot! Though The Lino in front of us had a shocker, missed loads of shirt pulling and blocking in the first half! He did acknowledge my cordial gesticulation in the second half with a nod!

Have to say thought Linnington was almost as classy as Edwards.
Got pretty much everything right, didn’t take any crap, let the game flow and was very clear about throws and free-kicks being in the right place.
Above all he was consistent with both teams and, I think, only one yellow, which showed he was totally in control from the beginning of the game.

Just out of interest, does any bright spark know when (i) 'simulation' was recognised as a thing in football and (ii) it became bookable? I'm wondering whether this may have occurred with the philosophical paradigm shift of Baudrillard's 1981 text 'Simulacra and Simulation'.

The Saito pen was right in front of us and looked soft at the time but on replays probably the right decision..
The highlights for Dunne seem to show it was actually just their player with two hands pulling Dunnes shirt so should be a pen for me as no attempt to play the ball whatsoever. [Post edited 5 Feb 19:46]
