I do like a moody manager giving blunt answers

Not an unfair question. Dave’s turn to take it in the teeth for asking it.

Its his decision in as much as Cook heaping praise on Niko Madsen after announcing his 1 more year, was genuinely straight off the cuff.
No one's being leaned on at all....

Valid question. At least we know where the fault lies now.

Is it unfair to think Stephan's answer is what you'd expect him to say? Would or could he ever have said otherwise?

A tad insulting to ask that question.

Let me put it this way, if Nourry was telling Stèphan who to play, would he really be telling him to pick Cook?

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Well I’m glad somebody asked it.

Had enough of the deflection, JS took the job, JS has to own it. He has, but we’ve suffered 4 games of utter toilet, so if this team doesn’t pick up fast it’s on his watch and the club needs to act appropriately.

Big difference between the question asked (around selection) and the more important question of: "who decided/determined the formation/system and style of play we have employed so far this season?"

I think his answer would have been a lot more telling there...

And I strongly suspect we'll see a change in that tomorrow...

He was never going to say 'Nourry helps me pick the side' was he?! Tbf to him it's not really the people hes picking (Plymouth aside which was ridiculous) thats the major issue for me. It's the way they're being asked to play which annoys me more and the lack of fitness. Maybe asking him whether this style is his idea, or the clubs would've been a better question and given him the chance to anwser a bit more openly. Maybe not though! I don't think hes come across from managing some decent teams in France's top league to a side constantly battling relegation in England's 2nd tier for someone to tell him what team to pick. From listening to what others said about him on Clives pod he can be a very stubborn and strong willed guy, so I don't think I really buy in to this stuff about him not being to pick who he wants. Time will tell though I guess we're only 4 games in. As plenty of others have said tomorrow's team selection is important, but the way they play is even more vital.

How many failed coaches would it take until we (by we I mean you) consider it might not be the coach that’s the root cause of our lack of success?

The whole thing is ridiculous and insulting to the man!

Like him don't like him, doubt he cares! He does at least deserve some respect for being a professional.

Feels like some are sulking a bit, and not just over last Saturdays result

Dunno, but roughly the same amount that came before Stock, Jago, Venables, Francis, Holloway and Warnock.

This fella looks clueless, it’s up to him to show us he’s got what it takes.

The root cause of our lack of success is that we're a small west London Club. The root cause of our lack of fitness, lack of team Unity, and players unable to play 2 passes to each other is down to the coach. No one's demanding success. But we are demanding professionalism

good - I'm glad someone has asked the question.
Still not totally convinced by his answer, but at the very least it's good to see him feeling uncomfortable about our direct questions regarding our predicament.
The pressure is now on him to deliver the game plan and get a song out of this squad.
If he was under any misconceptions about what's expected - and how long it will take people to question his methodology, he can be in little doubt now.
He needs to prove the doubters wrong starting tomorrow...

But for the umpteenth time, “fitness” is not the responsibility of Stephan. In our structure, it lies with Ben Williams, who also reports directly to Nourry. The physios, doctor, and fitness coaches report to Williams, not Stephan.

Whether that is correct structure is a different question.

But we cannot beat Stephan up for the fitness of the players. This isn’t the 90s and 00s when Gerry and Ollie ran pre-seasons (sadly).

By ‘act appropriately’ I presume you mean sack him?

Regardless of what he said, are we really buying that he’s choosing to play Walsh?

Why do you make the fundamentalist assumption that there's a single 'root cause'? A successful football team/club is a complex weave.

Honestly there's probably not any club in the top few divisions that doesn't have a fitness coach these days. Not many of them get to do their job from Dubai mind you.

I know full well what the structure is. But if you imagine that Stephan isn't talking to Williams and the physios then you're in cloud cuckoo land. And another reason it's his responsibility is because he'll be the one on the guillotine if we carry on as we are.

Good point. The original closed question asked was a waste because there was only ever going to be one answer.

A better thought out open question along the lines of, "Can you please explain the reasons behind your decision to drop Nardi for Walsh" or something similar, would have been much better.

I've got the Power.

Ndidi - but only QPR can claim to have an unfitness coach that cramps everyone’s style.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Of course Stephan will be talking to Williams, as he will with Nourry, De Souza, Diarra et al. But that doesn't mean he has the authority to change the system on his own. He doesn't.

Stephan would have been shown how the club was set up when he took the job on and he's choosen to work with it. I think the club's structure isn't unusual in Europe so he wouldn't have necessarily thought it was a problem. However, structure is one thing, people are another. The issue is Nourry who is at the top of the tree and in control of things for which he is unqualified and inexperienced.
