Listened to the W12 pod on the way in to work this morning, they mentioned the experiment with Frey and Kone up front against Oxford, and that Kolli might make a better partner for Kone for games where Burrell isn't available.
I hadn't thought about this before, but Kolli always struggled as a lone striker, but might be much better suited to working off a target man like Kone. He's dropped off the radar a bit, but by all accounts did well when he came on against Bristol City, and could hopefully benefit from our new system this season as part of a rotation up front. Kolli always struggled as a lone striker because he’s not a lone striker. He only ever played there because the strikers at the time were either unfit or crap. He’s definitely more of an inside-forward. Dare I say it a No.10. | | | |

Kolli has certainly bulked up a fair bit during the summer which he needed to do as he was too easily outmuscled last season. I see a very good player in him and someone which if named in the team or coming on as a sub I have no worries about, which is a rarity to say about players who have come through the academy system at Rangers. Nowhere as pacy as Burrell but then again not many footballers are. He has a good footballing brain and who knows he could eventually be the replacement for Kone if we get a great offer for him. | |

Was massively disappointed when turned up at the Brentford friendly and heard Kelman was on his way.
Shows how educated we all are on here !!
i like the profile of Kolli and he can play. But he is way down the pecking order.
Probably better off with a loan but i get why he is here, with Celar and Lloyd farmed out. Pervesely by being higher up the pecking order than these two, he suffers with much less opportunities to play than them.

Should he be used? Sure, he works hard, can put himself about, knows where the goal is and has a bit of quality about him.

I'd like to see a Kolli/Kone duo tried out with Kolli playing behind Kone. We've not really seen what Kone can do as an out and out no 9. If successful, it would give us a different attacking strategy. | | | |

Without doubt he is a better option than Frey, but, and I've thought this for a while, he doesn't seem to really excel at anything in particular to make him a starter long term.
Definitely the odd game when Burrell needs a rest, but is Kolli going to be happy with that? | |

He is.a decent player like his work ethos. Remember this is a long season cold winter away games coming up. Word will be out about burell and his pace. When he gets kicked about kolli is a very decent foil for kone. Give him game time he will score. Might be just wanting the big money deal out of here but so do most. We also may have to sell so he will fill that gap if we sell one or both of our sharp dueo.

Probably not, I expect him to leave pretty soon in any case, but while he's here that's where I'd use him and I think we'd have had a more positive outcome last Wednesday night if we had.
We come straight back from the break into another 3 game week so I'm hoping what I felt was a very decent cameo at Bristol might have pushed him up the pecking order a bit. | | | |
